A&Q about 350Z
Q:
So, everyone knows that I have been advocating for a fix for the tire wear issue. I have also passed on info that a fix was on the way. Still no fix as far as I know has been released by Nissan. I thought a few weeks ago that this may be the case, but now I am sure. Nissans fiscal year ends this month. If Nissan releases the fix now they may be forced to take a large hit for the cost of the repairs which would impact profitabiltiy for the fiscal year. I think that next month once the new fiscal year begins that the fix will come. I guess we will see.

very good point...but i thought you were positive that a fix was coming out last time you told us...apparently your "sources" arent very good. but im not trying to be an ass and would hope that you keep us updated if you hear anything further. But as i said before I'll believe theres a real fix when i finally have it done on my car and only then.

I dont think I ever said that I was positive that a fix was actually coming. I stated an opinion that I feel Nissan will eventually correct the problem and have always been cautiously optomistic. As for my source, 2 months ago he was sitting across the desk from Mr. Gohn himself, so.... Any case lets all hope that the info is correct and a fix is really on the way!
A:
And before anyone needs to correct me I meant Mr. GHOSN not GOHN. Think first, then type!

This makes no sense. How many cars could Nissan fix in a week? Not enough to impact their bottom line. If a fix is released today, and we all call up our dealers to schedule an appt, I would bet that the majority of us would have to wait till after the 1st to get in.
Also, if the fix involves replacing a part (other than tires), then we will have to wait for the revised parts to get here.
Delaying a fix for fiscal reasons makes no sense.
A:
If the program goes into effect prior to the end of the fiscal year, they have to include an estimated cost of the program in their annual report.
A:
I am by far no accountant but I think they would definetly have to include some sort of allowance in the report for stock holders ect. We will see!

To znstarz:
And did your source remind Mr. G of his original quote, which went something like "...it's OK for it (350Z) to be late, but it's got to be right..."..? The Touring's "upgraded" stero, tire issues, window streaks, frayed seats, etc...is that what he considers "right?" LOL...Actually, I'm not trying to be sarcastic, & I appreciate any info you get, it's just that I doubt Mr G even knows about the tire issue....

I was just wondering---I've spoken to several Z owners in person about this tire wear issue. It seems that the ones that have cars made before 6/03 seem to have this problem. Myself and a couple of others with cars made after this date don't seem to be affected. I wonder if there is any credit to this observation, limited as it is.

I agree that this may be possible for the reason. Certainly they would have to include either the actual cost or estimated cost of these repairs in the first year production records if announced now. Later on they can bury the figures as warranty work or something else, rather than a design flaw. Could make a difference on how the accountants shuffle the dollars for taxes and for profits.
