A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Hey Guys and Gals,
I am in great need of an engine. Anyone know where I can find a low milage engine for a 03 track model?

thanks for the help
we found one in Miami and it will be shipped tomarrow.
beatsticken- i think you are thinking of someone else, this is the
first time i have posted on the 350 forum.
But this engine is just replacing the engine that blew up this weekend at the track. We should be able to rebuild the old engine, and when we do the plan is to build it up for a super charger!

Hmm howd you blow the motor?

It has 90k miles on it. It has been an autocross and roadrace car since day one. So it was just a matter of time.
We are pulling the engine tomarrow to find exactly what happened, but we found alot of thin metel in the oil pan. Looks like something let go somewhere in the timeing, went into the oil pan then went through the entire engine. It still runs with good comprestion and oil pressure, but sound way out of time.
Since this is the middle of the race season we can't afford the down time of an engine build. So we desided to put a low milage engine in to finish the season then build this one for a super charger for next season.

Sounds like a piston.

Well anything is possible but we are thinking that one of the timing tensioners failed. We got the engine out today and partially tore down. We took off the little acsess panels that show the water pump and one tensioner, the tensioner is adjusted all the way out. So we are thinking that the it is trying to take up the slack from the other one. We will know for sure tomarrow.

Here is our little website for the race team.

By the way the 240 took the pole and won first in the race this weekend
so it was both good and bad weekend.

We autocross it with the Oklahoma Region SCCA in OKC.
And roadrace it at Hallet( between Stillwater and Tulsa)
BTW the month before the 240 went through a tire wall and flipped with 3 turns to go and in 2nd place. It took alot of work but we rebuilt it even better and won the race this time. ;-)
I just went to the sight and it seems to be working.

Hey Eric
In the off season we changed alot of stuff on the 350 so we aren't running BS this year. However in BS we put the Koni's yellows, adjustable front sway, K&N drop in, grounding kit, and Hoosier's on 18 in.
Congrats on getting involved with NEOKLA.
I know it cost a little more with gas and toll fees to run in OKC. But think it would be worth your while to come down and check us out. Plus looking on the NEOKLA website it appears that the site locations for the rest of the season is in the air right now.
Hopfully the 350 will be ready for the next Hallet weekend, but the 240 will be there. We will be there the 25th this month, hope to see you there.

Damn, the weekend of the 25th is a MidDiv autocross in Salina. I was hoping to go to the Salina event, but if that falls through, then I'll see you at Hallett. Good luck!
