A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Just want to share a few pics of the new toy, Pioneer AVIC-D2, I put in over the long weekend. Installation took about 4 hrs just b/c I took my time and double checked everything. Trim kit was and wiring harness was bought from Crutchfield, and both worked out good. Factory mounting brakcet was used with a slight drilling of the screw holes to center the unit.
A few thoughts. This unit has a 6.5 inch screen, plays CD (mp3 and wma) and has built in GPS. Sound quality is ok, probably would have been better if I went with an Eclipse unit. Software interface is logical and easy to learn, althought there are many functions that I would never use. I can't believe that Pioneer went throught the trouble of building in gyros and accelerometers.
Bottomline is this thing is worth the cost. I bought on Ebay for less than 1000 including shipping.

Yup, I did all the installation. Crutchfield (with the purchase of the trim kit) included decent directions on the dash removal, so figured I
d give it a shot.
I also had an oportunity to play with the Kenwood 7000 and 8000 series, and you are correct, Kenwood interface is better. I think sound quality is also better, but non of the Kenwood offered GPS built into the receiver. I did not want more wires running and looking for a place for the GPS receiver.
