adding tint

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

i will have tint installed this wknd but i also want to tint the tailights and reverse/signal lights. i've seen some done but never got a chance to ask where they got it done. can anyone give any suggestions?
A:

I was going to make a joke about how you should drive through some poor rural areas looking for z28 camaro's since that is one of their top 3 mods of all time, but I'll refrain.
I bet the tint shop will give you good information on where you can get it done if not there. I'm not sure that is 'regular' tint, as normal tint goes on the inside of the window, and would get ruined fairly quickly by lots of rain/etc. on the outside of the glass, though I could be wrong.

I read somewhere about a guy that explained how to tint the lenses with some sort of aerosol tint spray. He'd spray on the tint until it was the darkness that he liked, and then he went back and polished the tint so it shined like glass again. It might have been at www.350z-tech.com in the How-To section.

I'm pretty sure you can't tint your existing lights. You'll have to purchase smoked corners and rears.

don't buy the aerosol. it's just spray paint. i bought some to see what it was and never used it because, well, it's freakin spray paint.

They're there to alert others to your intentions and your presence. Why do you guys opt to lessen that performance?

they're not less noticeable. when i signal you can still clearly see it. when i'm not signalling i think the dark signal looks better than clear.

72, why are you always such a downer? You always break into a thread with this kind of stuff. Justin, your ride looks sweet man, love the overlays. I need to start a fund to finance some modifications, damn college takes all my cash.
A:

how old are you, 72?
you're not getting a taillight vid until you learn to play with the other kids.

justin, did you apply them yourself? were they easy if so? I have experience applying full decals, but never did this. Thanks for any info :)
A:

i applied them myself. the signal overlays were super easy. the taillight overlays were a little harder, but not hard. you need a hair drier.

A:

did you have to cut them at all? hair dryer! really, to make it adhere properly?
A:

you don't need to cut them. the hair drier is to make it shrink into place. it's necessary because of the taillight curves.

thaat's 72 for ya... he used to be a cool addition to the Zcar family... now he just gives negative comments...
so if you're having a really good day and would like to share it with us... watch out for 72's comments on your post... will most likely bring you down...

Well, I don't think you know either
A:

that's what I don't get, since I've joined I haven't seen one comment from him that doesn't try to ignorantly state an opinion - I can respect a man's opinions, but there's a right way to say something (the way that people will still respect you for) and the wrong way... don't get it. Maybe it's a lack of lay ;) j/k 72 ... enlighten us though?
A:

You like agreement with your statements, and especially when you brag about your modifications.
My stated opinion was I don't understand laying on dark film that impedes the performance of headlights, brake lights, and turn signals. Your pal justin took issue with that and I responded. Now I'm a dick and your pal justin is on the mountain top.
There was a time when your pal justin was considered a major dick around here because he offered nothing but smart-ass remarks. Now the tables have turned. That's the nature of forums, I suppose.
Static, seven-day, and justin now seem to be holding sway over this forum. Just look back and see who has responded in circle-jerks of agreement with each other on a variety of prior posts. That's fine, too, as it is also the nature of forums.
There will be a new batch of kids sooner or later and you three will be reading about yourselves.
Still waiting for the pipe full of weed, justin.

72... i disagreed with your opinion and offered proof to the contrary. it's not your opinions that get under people's skin. like revo said, it's the way you say them.
i'm extremely sarcastic, but i've made an attempt not to be. you, on the other hand, are going out of your way to make snide, demeaning remarks whenever you can.
i'm still curious how old you are. care to share? i'm 29.

I'm 26 - we'll just have to agree to disagree, I think your methods of conveying your opinion are really counter-productive...
A:

^ 2nd.
To address the subject of this posting...I think overlays are cool, but what would be even COOLER in my opinion is painting the inner housing of your headlight. Someone posted a really neat instructional on how to DIY. I am sure you could find it using the search tool.
