A&Q about 350Z
Q:
I have a 2004 Nissan 350 ZR Touring, with an automatic transmission. In the summer, an inordinate amount of heat builds up under the floorboard carpet. Not enough to burn, but enough to make my feet awful hot.
First, do you or other Z owners have that problem? My dealer said no for a year and a half after I bought the Z, but now says the problem is "normal."
BTW, I LOVE that Z! Best car I ever had (and I'm 64), but my feet are becomming toast!
Seems like I read long ago that a heat shield could be bought which would alleviate the problem. I've looked but can't seem to find it.
Does anyone know of such a shield and where I could get info on it, or possibly buy it? Or if not, how I could solve the problem?
Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem wiht my 03 and the problem is caused by the converters being right under that area of the floor. I pulled the carpet back and purchased and installed a thermal barrier product under the carpet that I found at a Performance Shop here in Las Vegas. It really gets hot here and the side of my leg would get so hot that it bothered me. Anyway, it really did the trick. While I was at it I installed it under the console and behind the seats over the gas tank area and in the back over the tire and in the door panels and in the kick panels. It gets to 142 degrees in the parking lot at Nellis Air Force Base here in Las Vegas. Well, a thiry minute drive home and the car is finally cooling off inside. With all that light weight thermal barrier the car gets cooled off fast.

142 degrees???? dang,,,,it was 90 today and i thought that was hot!

I don't think, I know...
Well, I don't think you know either
A:
Yes,
The nice people that run Las Vegas take the temperature out at the airport in a grass field where it is cooler than the rest of the town. So, you can always add ten or more degrees to the temperature they state. When it is 110 degrees in the garage at ten at night you know it is hot...
A:
Wow, i'm surprise guys. I've never had that hot floor you guys had experienced.
A:
Yeah...I have felt the heat. I just assumed it was my foot blazing through the gears on the clutch.
No seriously though, Vonsudderth tell me where I can find that thermal heat barrier. I want to see what I can do to "insulate" the cockpit of my car. That would be a major value-add
