TPMS for 2006?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hi,
This is my first post. I'll be picking up my slightly used '06 Base Coupe next week and was thinking of snow tires. I'm in Massachusetts and the Z is my daily driver.
I would like to get new tires and rims from the Tire Rack and avoid the cost of the TPMS modules in each wheel.
What is the impact of not installing the TPMS modules in an '06? Will I get an audible alarm? Flashing light? Etc?
Also, any recommendations on winter tires and rim sizes would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Lack of sensors will not cause any alarm or display unless you flip to the tire pressure readout. Then it just displays --.

Oh, btw I've got Blizzak LM-22's on 17" rims. The tires are the stock 17 size (my summer rims are the 18"s). They call the new Blizzak's LM-25's. These are great in the winter and still have a V speed rating (240km/h) and still corner very well on good roads during fall and spring when you cant risk the summers. Actually, below around 5 C they are better then the cold stock summer tires as it's getting too cold for them.

Just make sure when you remove the sensors store them away from your car so they cant pick up the signal, atherwise your tpms system will go crazy. I personaly dont have my sensors on my aftermarket wheels and i'm happy...but your tire pressure readout will display (-- --) and if you drive over an hour your tpms light will go on and after 15 minutes or so will go back offff.....

I don't believe that you have TPMS modules in your car since its a base model?? I may be wrong I don't think that any year (03 - current) that is a base has them.

Thanks for the info guys.
Mspeasl, I understand that all 2006 and newer cars are required to be equipped with TPMS, but I could be wrong.

The dealer told me there would be a warning light on the dash, but after switching to my winter wheel and tires, there's no light at all. I haven't seen the TPMS go off yet, but I imagine it does so when it detects a pressure drop of more than a few psi.
