A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Hey all,
As I was parking my car today, I normally park with the front facing out, I noticed an intermittent clicking noise when I moved forward and backward.
I searched around and found this TSB:
I think this may be the cause, but have any of you noticed this with your Z?
If so, have you brought it in to have it checked out and fixed and did they charge you if you're car is out of warranty (My car has 33,600 miles and is a 2003, which I got in Jan 03)?
Thanks for your help!

yep mine has it...seems to get worse in warm weather, i havent noticed it much lately though. but yea that looks like the TSB. If your car is out of warranty, which it looks to be(3 years old) they will probably charge you. I brought my car in when it was still under warranty and they said they couldnt replicate the problem(BS) so i had it documented. my car is now out of warranty but with the documentation if it resurfaces badly ill take it in and hopefully they should fix it for free.

it is related to the drive axle... i forget their name but the cross shaped bearings need to be replaced... at least that's what they told me when i took mine in under TSB...
my car was under warranty so they charged me nothing...

yes I had this on my Z in Feb this year, when acellerating slowly or reversing, a click noise in the back axel.
took it to Nissan, referred to the TSB, they said it was to do with the dif, and lubrication, they told me it was 'dryer than a dead dingo's donger' their words! told me the reasoning was the original oil used to lubricate is climatized to Japan conditions, not Oz.......
fixed - no more noise :)

I had that on my 5AT, but not on my 6MT. Never found the time to take it in, they should fix it for free even out of warranty right? Not too sure about TSB things.
A:
They fixed it on mine for free. Lubed the inner axel shafts. All better now.

i work at nissan and will clarify for you guys, TSBs are free if its under part of the warranty that covers that defective item, recalls are free no matter the mileage or age, this TSB should fall under the 5/60 powertrain part of the warrant, not the bumper to bumper 3/36. emissions is 8/80.
