sound system help

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

im new with car stuff.
got my 350z about half a yr a ago and i was getting REALLY IRRATATED with the stock system-not bose-.
how much will it cost to have a decent sound system?
i've already changed speakers once but my local installer did a really "FXCKED UP JOB" with the install so it doesnt sound that much better than my stock ones (right door side speakers jump and sound comes out distorted time to time. Im thinking no way this could have happened unless installer didn't know what he was doing).
help me build clean sound.

0 gauge??? lemme go look at my car...
I have 0 gauge Stinger wiring in my car, the good thing is that for even that thick of cable, it is still very flexible...
through the fire wall... your going to wanna go right behind the battery, but to make it easier you can remove the plastic covers that surround the battery compartment...
I had a Pro shop do mine... complete install and custom enclosure for my 2 Solo Baric L7s was $650, and this is how they ran the cable... i'll post pics in a minute...

hm....after that speaker installation, im hesistating to go get stuff installed by other people. is HU installation hard if i change'em?
im planning to get fiberglass sub box (one of those that they sell on ebay) for around 200-300 dollars and put 2-3 subs from JL.
im still not getting where HU and Amplifier comes in and how they make the whole system better.
thanks for the reply it really helped me a lot being first comment and all :D
A:

thx for the reply.
i want the best sound thats it.
i wouldnt even touch anywhere else on my car except to make the sound better.
i havnt heard of brand rockford. as i said im pretty new this kind of stuff, so i've only heard of the popular brands like JL AUDIO or ALPINE and such.
are there any more brands that are good that are not known very well?
A:

wow. are you doing it all by urself?
how are you doing it? just search online and install it?
i mean......i know how to change speakers on my doors now but people talk about changing speakers as if its childs play. and it took me nearly 2 hrs for both doors.
A:

i've also heard that speakers on the door sides are not regular speakers?
i mean.......like the speakers that come with the car on the door sides are subs or something...
im not too sure if thats true since i heard it from the guy who installed my speakers like ****.
