Tires!!! #1 rated

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Guys,I got a reprint of Car & Driver mag. The date on the cover is December 2005. I got this from the goodyear dealer. C& D rated all the tires & the following is the results of the test.
#11--Kumho Ecsta MX
#10-BF Goodrich G-force T/A KD
#9- Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
#8- Toyo Proxes T1R
#7- Pirelli P Zero Rosso Asimmetrico (wow that's a long one)
#6- Dunlop SP Sport Maxx
#5- HanKook Ventus R-S2 Z212
#4- Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
#3- Yokohama Advan Neova AD07
#2- Continental Contisport Contact 2
#1- Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
This test was done by people from Tire Rack. Please don't shoot the messenger as I have no vested interest in the results other than this confuses the hell out of me. Now I really don't know what tire to purchase.

Gang,
The Continental's may be rated #2, but I'll tell you this. On my 2005 "300 C" they were a piece of $h*t and were out of roung and wore out by 20K. The car shook so hard at 65Mph that you couldn't drive it above 55!!!............
They are the Bridgestone Potenza to the Chrysler 300C owner.

what were they rating them on exactly?
depending on what you're looking for i would think the list could change.

as i have said before, i'm a tire dealer.
i specialize in goodyear tires.
but i also sell michelin, bfg's, bridgestone, uniroyal, pirelli, nitto, dunlop, continental, kumho and a long list of other tires u have never heard of.
if u got ?'s, ask me.
i'll give u a straight answer.
A:

C&D has never been high on my credibility list, so I'll let its opinion slide.
Price, performance, actual owner satisfaction. That led me to the BFGs.
A:

They dont even have the Fuzion ZRis on that list and that is one of the best tires out right now.
Currently parting out 1990 300zx TT.
A:

fuzion tires.
manufactured by bridgestone.
another great tire!
recall soon to follow.
fuzion (japanese translation = c r a p)
A:

wow, jj has some insightful tire help. could you give reasons why you think certain tires are crap?

here's my criteria when i judge a tire.
handling (cornering)
safety
stopping
water dispersion
wear
wheel protection
ride quality / comfort
tire noise
looks
innovation
long term durability
and finally price.
price is probably the lowest factor in how i rate tires.
cheap tires are mostly crap. do u think that kumho can manufacture, ship and market a tire cheaper than goodyear, michelin, bridgestone or pirelli? or is it more likely that they use cheaper materials that reduce the cost of the tire. you'll find plenty of people on this website and other websites that praise and glorify tires like kumho, nitto, falken, sumitomo and other low cost tires. that's all fine. but when it comes down to handling and safety......who's the winner going to be every single time? if the cheap brands i just mentioned are so great, shouldn't every car maker be pounding on the door of the manufacturer saying sell me this tire. can u imagine a 911 turbo leaving the factory on a set of nitto's? do u think that bmw would allow some kumho's on their showroom floor?
come on people. show a little sense here!
i sell those cheap tires too. but i what it always comes down to is this.....u get what u pay for! A L W A Y S!!!!!!
A:

i was just curious what makes one tire better than another. you're saying it's mostly the materials they use?

A:

mostly it's materials. but it's lots of money and time in research and development. workmanship plays a big part too.
A:

i got the BF Goodrich G-force T/A KD, and very happy with them.
2004 Base 350Z Pikes White 6Sp.
A:

anything to say about nitto's neo-gen?
A:

nittos look really nice
handling is extremely average.
this is a middle level perf tire.
hard ride
A:

Tests done by tire rack HUH. I researched their best sellers and it looked like the BF Goodriches were the best bang for the buck in high performance tires. Yet your list shows them at the bottom. Just received a full set ready to install them with absolutely no second thoughts. Hard to believe this list has any credibility in that it is in direct conflict with Tire Racks customer ratings. Also glad i bought them from Discount Tire and got free shipping. I'm not shooting the messenger just Tire Racks BullSh@t list!

Michelin Pilot sport are good enough for me, I think much better than the Bridgestone Potenza.
