I think the sway helped out a lot on the track, but I can't tell much on regular city streets. When you're pushing the car to its limits, with the new sway the front end stays planted beyond the point that it used to. This can cause understeer, but I think the car is still very well balanced and carves the roads with more aggression. The Tanabe sway, although larger in diameter, is lighter than the OEM too (maybe a pound or two - nothing significant). But since I autocross and occassionally track it, I'm happy with the Tanabe Sustec front sway bar.
I bought it on istoreparts.com for $160 plus about $20 in shipping. They were a bit slow to deliver, but when compared to competitors (MSA charges $270 + shipping) it was worth the wait :)
