Goodyear Dealer still on this form??

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Gang,
About a year and a half or so ago a Goodyear dealer put Goodyear F1's on his "Z". I would like to contact him and ask a few questions about his out come with them since then. Does anyone remember the threads about this and who it was?? If you do, give me a shout. I ran a search without any luck.
Thanks,

He's the Goodyear guy.
By the way: I searched "Goodyear dealer" and found him ... but I kind of remembered his name.
I can tell you what he'll say. "BEST TIRE EVER!!!" What would you expect? He's a Goodyear dealer for Pete's sake!!

Guys, I have an 03 touring with a 6spd tranny. I called up Tire Rack today & inquired about the Goodyear F1 GS D3. The man said that the size that I wanted does NOT fit my model. Now jjgdyr says that he has them on front & rear. The tire rack says that the rears haver to have an 8.5 inch rim which we don't have(according to tire rack) . Tire rack says that jjgdyr MUST have different wheels than the stock ones. JJGDYR,if you are out there please let me know if your wheels are stock. The sizes I asked for are: 255/40/18 freont
275/40/18 rears.

72n03Zs,
Thanks for the different search approach. Yes he should say "BEST TIRE EVER!!!" since he sells them. I just want some additional info about his use of them.
Thanks again,

Says it's okay. I felt the same way as you and have said so in the past. Just because you can force it onto the wheel doesn't make it a good idea.
A:

I have been really happy with the Kumoh's I bought. They have been way better than the tires that came with my care and they have a better looking tread design.
A:

Kumhos all around here too. 712 Ecsta, good tire.
A:

kumho's suck.
i think they're made from rice.
i sell kumho's to the guys that want CHEAP tires.
think you're gonna lap someone that's running goodyear, michelin's or pirelli's? give me a break!
let's seeeeeeee.
what car manufacturer runs kumho's from the factory???????
drumrolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.
kia, ladies and gentlemen!
to answer your question, yes i'm running stock rims on my 04 roadster.
no feathering problems.
great handling.
smooth ride.
quiet ride.
what else do u want to know.
and by the way, i sell michelins, pirelli, bridgestone, bf goodrich, uniroyal, dunlop, nitto, kumho, hankook and about 10 other brands you've never even heard of. u got ?'s
just ask.
it's not like i'm gonna make any money from anyone here by pushing the goodyear tires.
i just thought that some of u would want some first hand knowledge about different tires and their pros and cons!
A:

jjgdyr, please give me your recommended size for the 03 350 touring mdl.
A:

jjgdyr...How are your eagles holding up in regards to feathering???
How many miles do you have on 'em too?
My SB ZR still feels like HEAVEN....what a wild ride!
A:

i've got 18k on my eagles. still wearing great!
255/40zr18's on the frt
275/40zr18's on the rear
A:

I have 15k on my Eagles.
The fronts are cupping a little, but nothing like my previous 3 sets of Potenzas.

I think jjgdyr is right about about these F1 GS D3s. I have done some research on these tires and they seem very impressive from a lot of sources. I got the replacement fronts free under the warranty is the only reason I have not bought them ( F1 GS D3s) already.
One thing I don't know. Do the F1 GS D3s do ANY better on snow/icy conditions than our stock tires? I don't expect them to be geat snow tires or anything considering what they are for and the type of car the 350Z is, but even if they are a little better in snowy conditions it would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone heard anything about this aspect?

A:

the eagle f1 gs d3's are strictly a summer type tire.
they are great for wet and dry weather.
they will be horrible in the snowy/icy conditions.
the tread design is not meant to break up ice or slush.
and the tread compound reacts poorly is extremely cold temps.
A:

Thanks for the info. The Goodyears not being good in snow is NOT a problem for me as that is why I have another car for those conditions. But every once in a while I get caught out somewhere and it starts snowing, unexpectantly when the forecast assured me otherwise. Mother Nature is unpredictable sometimes. With the power I am going to run, I am going to need a lot of tire like the f1 gs d3's for dry performance. And I'll just have to avoid the slick conditions.
