To oil or not to oil?

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I have a k&n drop in air filter in my 350z… when I clean it do I have to oil it up again or can I just drop it back in without oil?
Will it handle better without oil or with?
A:

I believe all permanent filters require oiling. I know my PopCharger element
requires it.
A:

Oiling your K&N is a must. My understanding is its what catches most of the dust and what not while still being high air flow.

Yes. Its in the cleaning kit instructions. After you've brushed off the loose debris, applied the cleaner liberally, thoroughly rinse it, and allowed it to dry at least a day or two, you can reoil it. But, do not over soak it with oil. If you have a oil spray can, you just do one pass over each groove so its a reddish pink color. After the first pass, look for any missed spots or light pink areas and lightly spray them.
Allow the oil to soak for at least 20 minutes before reinserting it.
What I usually do is lightly blow air through the filter and if I can feel the air flowing freely on my fingers on the backside then its ready to be reinserted.

no you gotta buy the cleaning kit or else you will destroy the "gauze" thats lining the filter....and dont pressure wash it...you spray it with their solvent and let water run from inside out so nothing gets pushed inside the filter...after that let it dry naturaly, no forced air etc...the apply the oil.
