A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Just an introduction. My name is Bill, I live in northern Va, and was looking for someone I recently ahd a run-in with. Don't have a name, but I was looking for the story. Anyway, I drive an 04 GTP Comp G, and probably won't be on too much. Just interested in cars in general.
A:

I assume the "run-in was with a Z? Good run-in or bad run-in?
A:

Well, not that great. They guy ended up driving like an idiot, but yeah, it was a 350z. I posted about it in another thread (that I ressurected!! SORRY!!) If you do a search for GTP you'll find it, this is my third total post :)
Actually, here is the link

Umm...I don't think you are going to find the story on here. If the guilty driver does post on this forum, he probably is NOT going to speak up.
And it goes both ways. There are crazy, ludicrous drivers in all types of vehicles. Z's have their nuts, so do GTP's. So to Vettes, Porsches, Lambos, Neons, Civics (tons of them in Civics!), TT's, Subaru's....
I recently was caught speeding in my Z because I was experiencing some road rage and trying to shake some punk kids in a RSX-type S. They wouldn't leave me alone, kept riding my tail, flashing the brights, pullin up next to me and stuff. Finally I dropped gear and they were breathing my exhaust but I got pulled over. I was compliant and humble, because I broke the law. It really put my in my place. I think I learned a valuable lesson. Under NO circumstance is there any reason to RACE on public roads. Now let me clarify. Speeding on a back country road in proper driving conditions is not racing. That is enjoying your car. So long as you are capable of driving at the speeds at which you are travelling and are physically competent (eyesight, etc.), then I say GO FOR IT! I do it all the time. It's fun and highly rewarding. Even on interstates and stuff late late at night and early morning I say GO FOR IT. But racing, i.e trying to compete with another driver on any public road I think is for the birds. When you start competing you start to put your own ego against your regard for safety. While 9 times out of 10 a wise person will regard their safety first, all it takes is that 1 time. That's why I say I think RACING is ridiculous. If you want to race....go to track. It's safer, more fun, and they have instrumentation that will actually measure who is faster and more talented, like timers and starting lights.
my $0.02. Enjoy!

No no, that was my point :) Idiots on both sides (gotta read the other thread I replied to in order to see what I mean). Anyway. Yeah, I slowed down around corners, etc. He almost lost it around one particular corner. I thought for sure I was going to have to stop and go back to help him.
A:

onyx... for the record you can't bring threads back to life on this forum. once they're dead they're dead. if you post on an old thread it stays old and no one will probably ever see your response.
you mentioned you wouldn't get a Z because there are other cars in the Z's price range you think are better. i'm curious what those other cars are. to be honest i don't think there are any. of course i'm biased. i agree there are other cars with horse power in the same price range, but none with horsepower and looks.

Justin,
The GTO is considered by many mags and people to be in the same range as the 350, as is the mustang. Now I realize that this is slightly unfair because the top end of these two cars are V8's but that's when Nissan should put in a competitive V8. As for looks, I personally like the look of the GTO, but I'm a fan of the sleeper. NOT a big fan of the looks of the Mustang, but hey, to each his own I guess.
A:

2nd^^ not terribly thrilled about the looks of the mustang, everyone just seems to be in a "retro" phase... sure hope Nissan doesn't follow...
I finally agree... racing on public road is rather immature. I don't know how many people do this but i definately know when to back down...
also, gotta say and i say this all the time... those "competitive" v-8 pushing around the same HP as our Zs are still at a disadvantage... just logically speaking, if say, the Mustang is using it's V-8 to push out what? 320... that's only abot 40 shy of our 03 to 05 Zs... and 20 of the 06s..
so our cars should be lighter and more agile true? also i would thing that since they are using a v-8 to reach the hp of a v-6 then the engine is either severely tuned down or just not at the same level of technology as the v-6...
umm... now that i'm reading over this... i don't think i'm making any sense... if you can answer great but if not o-well...

Static,
I can answer :) Ford's V8's aren't known for their performance when it comes to other cars. Where as they are faster than the 350Z's, compare them to the GTO and see what happens. Then, take into account Ford's heaviest hitting Mustang, the Cobra (which will be supercharged), and the ball shifts. I have no idea why Ford uses an S/C on their V8's, especially since it can make power. Cheaper I guess, not to mention the marketing for a supercharged engine is better, esp for performance type folks. Also, you're not taking into account that the GTO and Mustang are detuned. They are a lot farther from their limits than the 350z.
Yeah, street racing is stupid, and I try to keep it to the track, but that night I was in stupid mode. The only thing I can say in my defense is when I saw traffic, I immediatly backed off.
At anyrate, I'm not saying the 350z is an ugly car, far from it, I'm just not impressed with it. Everyone has their preferences, and mine is for a simple, more unassuming look.
A:

depends what mustang ur talking about. majority of them are not faster than the z. havent really seen a 06 gt in action but the older gt's are not as fast as a z. the cobra is faster however but most stangs i come across are gt's. v6 is a joke compared to a z. i can take those in my daily driver prelude.
A:

Deluz,
The V6 stang is weak compared to most any car. The GT's run high to mid 13's stick IIRC, autos high 13's to very low 14's.
A:

gto and mustang have lots of power for a good price, but they're too big and boat-like for my taste.
this quote from motor trend somes up my thoughts...
"As you might expect, the Mustang GT and 350Z are two entirely different experiences on the road. "The Z-Car is the carver and the Mustang is the cruiser," says Motor Trend road-test editor Neil Chirico. Think of the Mustang GT as Jake LaMotta, a punch-drunk heavyweight making a comeback from the brink of retirement. With a 300-horse V-8, it still packs quite a wallop. The 350Z, on the other hand, is Jackie Chan, kickboxing the competition with faster moves, quicker reflexes, and a more animated personality."

How could I tell this? There are a ton of trolls and flamers on the net. You gave me no way to know you were joking :)

Maya is annoying.
Backyard inbred? Strange observation to make considering you have never met me, don't know my family, have no idea what I do for a living, and have a history of making blatently misguided statements on this forum.
Out of the 272 posts you have made, I would be willing to bet that no more than 6 have had any meaningful or valuable content.

Nope, looks like I was right the first time. You're a dick. Oh well, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt in the second post.
