i notice that when shifting... between shifts, if you pay close attention to the needle position it will notdrop the second you press the clutch... mine hovers around a little too...
look at it really close, say you accelerate to 3.5k then press the clutch and shift... before you let off the clutch you can notice that the tachometer's needle will "jiggle" then drop... i just figured it was one extremely accurate tach.... but zelous's explaination sounds convincing...

Only on the 350Z forum is a speedometer called an "mph gauge" and a tachometer called an "rpm indicator"!
:)

ha ha ha....Dan, as a proud owner of a 350Z, your comment still cracked me up.
That is true it would only show up on a 350Z forum. However, some of us 350Zers do know what that little dial that measures mph is called, as well as the bigger one that measures rpm's.
For those who don't, there is always the digital speedo in the onboard display.

Yeah and besides all that, I'm still searching for that little thingy type of meter that is supposed to tell if the engine temperature is, you know, like too hot or still too cold for the heater to work or something. Is that the anifreeze indicator? And if it is antifreeze why do they call it "coolant" anyway? Isn't that a conflict of interests or something. And can anyone tell me why oh why does the little rpm meter say that my Z car loses RPMs after shifting to a higher gear?
Believe it or not, many years ago a customer actually did complain to my brother, a Nissan Master Technician, that his 240Z was losing RPMs after up shifing. It was so cool... My brother just looked at the customer in non belief, shook his head, kind of looked sick, and walked off toward the bathroom. He never even said a word... So cool.

interesting point More Power... that is a conflict of interest... either it freezes or it doesn't... it has to be one of them...
