6 speed Trans

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hey guys, it's been a long time since I entered this forum. My 2003 just hit three years of age since I purchased it. I had the typical tire feathering up front after 13K miles. The dealer replaced the tires and re-aligned the car and I have never had any problems since. The car has been virtually free from any problems. However, as luck would have it, I have just started to have a slight problem with the tranny syncros. When I shift from 4th to fifth under heavy exceleration I sometimes cannot get it into gear and have to back off until the revs drop a little and then she will go in. There have been many posts about th dealer replacing the trans on the 03 models due to syncro problems. My question is, has Nissan found a way to fix/replace the syncros without changing out the trans? If not how many miles/years is the 6 speed covered? I have around 31K now. Is the dealer open to changing out the trans or have they given any of you a hard time?
I am going to get it into the dealer in a week or two and just want to get some feedback from the other 350Z owners. Thanks!

I would be willing to bet that if your problem is indeed the same as the 03 syncro's stated by Nissan, that it is covered by warranty.
Mfg's warranty is 36K, so I would assume you are just within the threshold.

I had mine replaced under warranty several months ago. If you are under 36 months or 36K yours should be replaced free of charge also.

had mine replaced about 2 months ago... for the rattling noise... gave me really no problem getting it done... i have the 100,000 extended warranty though... it covers all engine and drivetrain... except wearable parts ie. clutch, bearings...
if you bought that then you should still be good to go!

Actually our warranty for Powerplant and Powertrain is 5 years or 60,000 miles. 3 years and 36months for bumper to bumper.
A:

yeah...but you have to buy a warranty seperate from the standard warranty for the 100,000 bumper to bumper and drivetrain coverage...
I read over the contract, here soon i am getting the recline motor for the driver seat replaced... the motor is $400 from the dealer... i only have to pay $100 the tranny was $2600 i paid nothing...

it was purchased seperate from Nissan... some wierd company i don't remember the name... but hey for a $100 deductible they replace anything not wearable bumper to bumper

Thanks guys! I am under the mileage. However, I have 39 months on my warranty. Don't ask! I purchased an extra 3 months at the time of my purchase due to my lease period. I am buyin the car out since the buyout is only $15K. My company paid for my lease.
