A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Just looking to share my misery:
So on Saturday I'm driving up I-15 in a furious wind storm. There were big piles of dirt in the median. The wind storm became a dust storm with dust so thick I couldn't see 2 feet in front of the car. I went from 65 mph down to a dead stop because it was impossible to see where I was going.
On top of it, multiple big pieces of some kind of foam insulation (like about 4 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 3 inches thick) were also picked up by the wind flew right at my Z and slammed into my poor car.
I can't exactly say my car looks like it was sand blasted, but I've got numerous scratches on the roof and hood. I'm hoping these scratches will disappear with a good polish, but I doubt they will. Any other ideas?

Inspect your air filter asap and possibly file an insurance claim.
A:
That's why you bought it.
Good luck.

I ride the I-15 too.
Quite a tornado! Where did this happen?

Zpoe: It was somewhere around Lehigh or American Fork. Hey, if you live around here you should take me up on my suggestion that we take a bunch of Zs out to do that open road racing thing in Wendover this summer. Check out http://www.openroadracing.com.
And, just to make sure there's no misunderstanding, it wasn't a full-on tornado. Just an extremely bad dust devil or localized dust storm.
Oh, and just this morning I discovered a piece of that pink foam insulation on my driveway in Salt Lake. Apparently it "bumped up into my undercarriage" and somehow stayed attached to my car all the way home.

sorry to hear that... i had a dead baby bird stuck in my undercarriage... i felt bad for the little dude... but what are gonna do??? i didn't remove it because i had no gloves or bag or something to grab him with... so as far as i know he's still there...
this was like 3 oil changes ago...
the sad thing is that his head was stuck on the anti sway bar and his body was dangling down... i was waiting for my oil to finish dripping out and was looking over the undercarriage and happened to see it...

Well I'd say to file an insurance claim, cause as was mentioned thats why you pay for it. However, insurance is a scam and they will likely jack up your rates for using the service that you've already more than paid for over the years. I'd take some detailed pictures and the try using a buffing compound on it. If you can't get it out then use insurance as a last resort.
Nothing pisses me off more than f!cking stupid insurance companies.
About a year ago, I was paying for full coverage on my Z31. I got into a collision and my front bumper and hood were damaged--- that was it. It was probably about $1500 worth of damage in total. The insurance company refused to fix my car even though I had full coverage. Their reason: the car is only worth about $3000 in perfect condition so they were going to total it. Since I started paying for insurance on my cars, I had payed out almost $10,000 to insurance companies for coverage in my relatively short driving career so far (8 years of driving) and never had to file a claim. So basically I told them to F!CK off, dropped my plan with them and went to Geico and I pay only for liability now and only because its required by law. Screw insurance. When those bastards won't even perform the services you've already paid for many times over, who needs them.

yeahi just don't bother with it because i have to have 1000 paid before they will do anthing... (deductable) so but the time i pay all that my car will be fixed... and insurance will never have to know...
also they are probably going to look for the cheapest place to do whatever and my saying is "you get what you pay for."

SLC Tortfeasor :
I am in Southern CA. I frequent the I-15 south of Riverside and at times in San Diego.
A Z get together sounds great, however, there a few too many miles between us ;-)

Give it a break. Kid, if you actually knew 1/10th of what you thought you know about business operations, you might come close to making a valid contribution.
Comprehensive coverage losses will have absolutely ZERO impact on your premiums.
