I am driving my 2006 350Z, just minding my own business and it seems like at every stop sign I have a Prelude, Civic, Accord or some "Riced" import....with a Coffee can as a muffler.....WANT to race me! Does this bother anybody but me? JEEEZZZ!

YUP me too, not racing them makes the best statement, its like I know i can dust you so why waste the gas and tires. Some day they will grow up to our vehicles and feel the same way.

just smile and nod...what the use in racing them. It shouldnt bother you, I mean ill roll up next to a porsche or some other sweet car I know that would dust me, but im a car guy so i look over and check it out. Im not trying to race the person but i respect the car and like to get a better look. Unless their actually rolling down their window and calling you out, most of them are probably just eyeing the car up.

drivenZ is absolutely correct. However, I know all of us here every now and then have actually went for the Gusto. But in the end like mcm4me just said, waste of gas and tires. This afternoon A Subaru WRX sports wagon pulled right next to me on my left. As we rolled on green on a normal luanch, his engine began to scream and cut in front of me without signaling. So I figured maybe he's on a hurry and he might be going right on the intersection. At the intersection he stoped and did not turn right so we met again, this time he's on the right cause I changed lane to the left(3 lanes by the way). Beyond this intersection is a road that goes for about 3/4 mile before another stop light and usually cars and trucks change lane to the right to get into the freeway ramp. So while we were stop he was glancing back and forth. Also, you can tell that his left hand has a firm grip on his steering wheel. Anyway I was like "all right I'll give you a race." At green we both went for it. At launch he was ahead by a foot or so, I kept my first all the way to 5000 rpm then shifted to second. And this is where the fun begins. I kept the second gear all the way to redline, and oh boy, I gained half a car ahead of him. At third gear I'm already doing 83 on a 50mph zone. A second later he gave up I guess because I could see him on my left side mirrors already. knowing he's back in a safe distance, I signaled and took his lane going into the freeway. It felt so good. By the way he went to the freeway as well and darted like a speeding bullet all the way into the left lane. What's the HP and torque of his car as well as his 0 to 60 time by the way? Anyone in here knows? Also does his car have a turbo?

WRX wagon is no slouch, a friend of mine had one...and theyre probably right around 6 sec 0-60, 14.5 in the quarter i would guess. A good driver in the WRX and a so-so driver in the Z and things would even out pretty much.

pretty sure all WRX's have turbos.
and tossers with clapped imports, just love the thrill of a potential rice race, I have to chuckle, they get off on reving the crap out of their car when they are beside you, I enjoy smiling at them, then letting them screech away! They usually make the 6pm news wrapped around a tree somewhere....

Mustangs are the number one riced car here in Deland Florida. Hell, one tried me tonight from a rolling start of about 30. I saw him hit the gas as he came up beside me so its on. He didn't get an inch on me. We both let off at about 65.

Anyways, i must admit... i can't count how many ricer races i've actually been in... i just don't mind putting them in their place... any ricer of any sort in not even in the same league as a Z... so here lately i've stuck to running with Higher end sports cars, Firebirds, GTOs, Cobra Mustangs, S2000. I've yet to race a Corvette, i know i probably won't win but it's fun regardless... i must say though... i really don't race to win anymore... it's just fun though... cause honestly, whats the point you know the person with the most money is going to win... unless they just absolutely suck at driving... and if not there is always somone faster...
Pete: Atleast your getting Hondas... i've had a Kia Sephia with a coffee can pull up to me and start that crap... that was the most pathetic excuse for a ricer i've ever seen... i mean he made ricers look bad.... *sigh*... i think i'm going to have to start sticking to the glance, smile, and let them take off deal...not worth the gas or tire...

if i use such a word... it is directed at cars that have, excessive or absurd accessories added to them. Also, the term generalizes obnoxious parts including but not limited to: excessive lighting, coffee can mufflers (especially ones with no performance affect), eyesore bodykits (Ex. Veilside V3), altezza taillights, and anything that imitates it's real counterpart... example of that would be the muffler inserts that make the noise of a turbo, giving the impression of a turbo charged car...
