Q:
I parked partially under fresh trimmed Pine Tree today at work.
I found out it had been trimmed yesterday after the fact.
I already saw some off the wall removal solutions while searching on Google.
Anybody ACTUALLY had first hand experience removing tree sap from their car?
Thanks...

the only thing i've really done is (depending on the size) pick it off while rinsing with water... normally the only sap i get on my car is about the size of a BB so it's not really noticable...
i don't think it chips the paint because so far i have had no problems... but here lately if had spots still remain after removing sap...type of tree i guess...
if nothing else i would try cleaner wax before any kind of harsh cleaner...ex...meguires cleaner wax...you can find it at nearly any auto parts store...

I used to live in Florida and pine trees peed sap onto cars there.
I used to cut most of the bubble of sap away with a razor blade to get down to the layer on top of the paint. Then I'd use denatured rubbing alcohol to get the remainder off and apply car polish immediately to the spot.
Nowadays there's other glue/sap removers to use instead of alcohol.
Good luck.

Gunk makes some great bug/tar/sticker adhesive remover stuff. And theres some other stuff called Goo-Gone which works really well. neither will harm paint and will pull that crap off really easily.

Isopropyl alcohol works on it. (same as above) I've used it many times. Just be aware it dissolves a fine layer of the paint, so keep it on the spot and wipe off the excess right away.

those big gobs of sap. You can cut through the mound of soft stuff without having to dissolve it with whatever cleaning agent you're using.
I'm very glad your Z's back to shining bright for you, poe. Happy to help.

Congrats! i simply just don't trust myself with a razor blade that close to my paint...just my opinion... but for the small sap that i get dripped on my car... usually water and a fingernail or cleanerwax lifts it right off...
not to mention the shoe scuffs that my Ex left on there when she hurled her shoe at my car... Cleanerwax to the rescue!!! lol

98% isopropyl alcohol works well for me. will not harm paint, but area must be re-waxed.
