A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Just got Goodyear GSD3s on all corners, and wanted your opinions weither to do the Alignment at Goodyear or at Nissan (Mossy - Houston)?
Are there any other good shops in Houston that will take the time to do it right?
The latest specs I have is
0mm / 0 degrees (min)
1mm / 0.1 deg nominal
2mm / 0.2 deg max (preferred)
Are these still up to date and did you go with 2mm or some other setting to dial out the toe in but have slightly less responsive turnin?

SluggoZ: what is the significance of having .5 degrees between left and right rear wheel camber?
or is it just that machinery is as close as it gets?...just interested... cause if i get another alignment... i want to know all the facts...

staticivi03 asked a good question.
Are those camber measurements taken with the weight of a driver in the vehicle? Otherwise I don't understand why your camber would more negative on the driver side. And unless you have added aftermarket suspension parts, isnt your camber fixed and non-adjustable?

oh... i just figured they would make everything symmetrical... makes since to me... unless your car is set to take left turns differently than right turns or something... i just figured there would be some sort of handling advantage to it... interesting...

Well I asked an expert and he said that it isn't uncommon for manufacturers to design the driver's side with slightly more negative camber for quite a few reasons:
1) on average, drivers make far more right turns that left and
2) right turns are almost always sharper than left turns, so the outer side (which would be the driver's side) would have to be slightly more aggressive in order to maintain traction.
3) since the number of sharp right turns far outweighs the number of sharp left turns, the tires would wear unevenly from one side of the car to the other under normal driving conditions, if both sides were simetrical.
This seems to make good sense to me, and I trust this guy to at least know what he's talking about, he was the manager of a collision and frame repair shop. They use alignment machines all the time to perform alignments and help detect bent or tweaked frames as a result of a collision. I would be willing to bet that in RHD countries, the suspensions are set up the other way around.

Manufactures also take into consideration road crown.
The slant from left to right downhill as you travel on most roads.
So if you car pulls ever so slightly to the left on a superflat road no worries because then you take you hand off the wheel on a normal road and go for miles without any steering inputs. Increases mileage as well.
