Wow. New tires are wonderful.

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

This will probably be met with the same indifference my I BOUGHT NEW TIRES post received about a month ago, but here goes ....
I got my BFGs installed yesterday and the difference over the OEM Bridgestones is so absolutely and immediately apparent. I had actually become accustomed to the horrendous tire noise and high steering effort from the RE040s.
I got to watch the alignment guy get the car spot-on Nissan's .2 degree total toe-in recommendation, and the car is a totally different machine.
The wife got dragged out for a ride when I got home, and within 25 ft she commented on the difference. The noise and ride quality was that bad before.
If you still have the RE040s, make a move as soon as you can. You'll discover your Z all over again.
That's my report. I'll take questions after the meeting.
A:

you just bought new tires a month ago and you're getting more new tires so soon? do we need to have an intervention?

I do that all the time - I have new tenstion rods that I bought last summer that I havent put on yet!
Good work 72! New tires and an alignement always makes our cars so much better.
A:

I'd really prefer the indifference.

When I replaced my Bridgestones with Good Year Eagle F1s, I could not believe the difference.
Cheers to the rebirth!

cheers too!
My SB ZR still feels like HEAVEN....what a wild ride!
A:

hey give them to me and they won't last 2 months...
i've been through several sets of tires in only 8 months... so i've resorted to slapping on used rubber for goofing off with... when i get my next full set of gummies i think i'm going to baby them though...
tires are too damn expensive to squander away like throwing rice...

I don't think, I know...
Well, I don't think you know either

I liked the Bridgestone stickyness in the corners, but the cupping and wearout at 10K miles was too much to bear. My Michelin Pilot Sports have lasted 20K miles so far (I beat the crap out of them) I'll never go back to the stock Bridgestones.
