A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Its been two years since I got my 350z and up to this day, every time I drive it still feels like brand new. I had no other modification done besides the k&N drop in filter, 20% rear hatch tint, 5 ziggen GN+ hyper black wheels and 275mm rear tires. So far I'm still waiting for my front original factory tires to wear out so I can replace it with a 245mm. The last thing I want for it is the Nismo cat back and that will be it. I'm totally satisfied with its performance in NA form. I don't know about you guys, but whenever I drive it I swear it seems It has more power than 287. I have done super fast corners on ramp and off with perfect control. Entering the 5 Freeway on Sunday night is always a blast. From an almost hairpin like on ramp to the farthest left lane gives me a feeling of like a super GT driver. Gorgously Fast and yet you feel safe. And of course I always signal while changing lane, as to make sure that my gorgous car makes it home safe and shinning bright.

I have had my Z for about one and a half years. I had the alignment done to correct the feathering and haven't had a problem since. I now have close to 40,000 miles. It is the best and most exciting car I have owned. I can't wait to drive it each day!

Good things about my Z...
Too many to count. But my number one favorite so far was the Bell Buckle cruise my Z club took last saturday. We were doing 70 on country highways and it took my breath away to see 10 Z's from different generations just crusing. The turns were the best because when you were on a straight you could only see the Z in front and behind in you...but in the turns you could see em all spread out as we attacked the corner...it was Awesome...and the hills too.
I can't wait to do it again.

I never get tired of guys at the gas pump saying how they had a Z before kids and how much they love the new ones.
Hard to get that kind of fan club and my car is way less than a vette or porsche.
A:
I have had my DB Track since Feb of 03. I have less then 11k miles on it. I worked at a high school so there was no way I was driving it anywhere near work. It is truly a weekend car for me. I love my Compustar alarm that will start the car from over three blocks away. I live in New Mexico and always start the car to cool it off before I get in it. I have had some amazing comments but one I remember the most. I had spent a very nice day with a lovely young lady in the Z. As I was dropping her off at her house she said "It's going to be hard for me to stopping thinking about this car". I thought that was very nice.

MAN!!! these are great stories... i get a kick just reading them...
I've got one for nearly any situation... unfortunately alot of mine is from racing...
Me vs a Black GTO... down 360 south (TX) near DFW airport... me and this guy are running it 130+ down a small 2-lane road (now they have the new highway built) where the speed limit was 50MPH... there was no traffic where we were but we came up on some at rather an alarming rate...
I guess the non-brembos aren't really designed for high speed stopping because the DO fade quite a bit from that speed... to the point that when you push your brakes you don't feel like your stopping at all! Bad part is...YOU'RE NOT... so to avoid getting into an accident... i swerve into the shoulder which at the time is under construction... but hey... it's either rear end a car or drive on the shoulder... so shoulder...here i come... those rather large orange barrels used to signify construction are dividing the traffic an my lane are set only about 25-30 feet apart... but i see a good spot to get back ito the driving lane so i swerve again at about 90 into the traffic through the barrels... and as i adjust aim in lane i happen to glance to the left and notice that not more than 50 feet further... and i would have been out of pavement... on some rather bumpy looking dirt and rocks... i was like man someone up there loves me... whew!
another one is at my work the parking lot entrance has a very fun chicane style turn to it... were most people do like 5-10 MPH through it...
yeah...WHATEVER!!! i do about 25-30 through it... just a couple hard carving of the pavement, downshift to 2nd, dump the clutch hit the gas and i'm gone!!! welll a turn like that is also just an accident waiting to happen...
one of the last times that i did that (I keep saying to myself "i gotta stop that") i was leaving... in my usual 30MPH sport style exit, corner to corner then straight... well right as i hit the last corner a little white carolla comes creaping right into my line of travel... so he attempts to avoid me... which if you ask me is ALWAYS the wrong move... but thanks to the great handling of our Zs i simple cut back to the left and swerved right away from his bumper, around him like a tornado and was well on my way home...
but like i say to everybody, my best advise to people trying to avoid being hit by someone speeding is NOT to move... i don't know about everyone else but anyone within 100 yards is already factored into my course when i'm going 100+...and most average drivers change lanes WAY too late WAY too slow to be avoided... so if you catch my drift... i'll go around you!!!
i should synchronize my CD player to automatically play Ludacris' "Move Bitch" when my speedo passes 95...

hey if the shoe fits...
another on was just a fun time... i was on my way home, just chillin...minding my own business, when i come to pass an Acura 3.2TL type-s... this is how alot of my races start anyway...
I just need to get into the lane he is in so i speed up a lil... i'm already going like 70-75 so this puts me at around 80-85... and i don't know WTF it is, but it seems like everytime i need to get somewhere and i speed up a little, other cars feel the need to match my speed and block me... anyways... me being a little irritated, i downshift to 4th, and gun it... in no time at all me and this guy are doing 150+ (no traffic)...(no cops, whew!)... but it was so much dang fun that i completely forgot where i was going... i sa a 1/4 mile marker for my exit but by the time i actually reached the exit i was still doing 95+ and the exit is a hairpin turn that i wouldn't take any faster than 45... so i do the wise thing and pass it... i end up going about 5-6 miles out of my way to get home... but hey whatever... at least i got my daily dose of adrenaline... whoo hoo!

I've gotten a ticket for speeding, but i wasn't racing. I was taking my cousin back to her hotel and i got caught doing 85 mph on the 605. Sucks, i wasn't even racing! But i'm not complaining, i think i got caught because i cut off an Audi TT.

well. lets see here...
82 in a 60
53 in a 40
67 in a 55
36 in a 20
the 67 was connected to no proof of ins. and no inspection
i was pulled over for not using a blinker
my friend got a ticket in MY car doing 55 in a 35
i got another ticket for passing an emergency vehicle... total BS though...(i never heard of that rule!)
but i've never been pulled over while racing... i know though that the next time i race it'll just be my luck that i'll get caught... so i try real damn hard not to...

Yeah, justinhenry, add this as a footnote to my story above:
1 Month after I shred my tires up at 135 on the freeway they installed photo radar things that snap you and send a picture of you speeding and a ticket to your house in the mail. And this is on the freeway! totall BS!!

U got a ticket for passing an emergency vehicle! I don't think i've ever tried that one. Static do u still have a licence after all your fines?
Australian road rules are very strict, we have speed cameras (photo radar traps) and most of them are mobile - so you don't know where they're at, U must wear a seatbelt ($130AUD fine) and you can't drive and talk on your cell phone ($150AUD) fine (but you can drive and smoke or eat - go figure). you also get a ticket if your music or exhaust is loud, and you can't have any additional exterior lights on your car..... talk about revenue hungry.

Ya oughta try Washington State here on the other side of the planet. No fewer than 5 state patrol cars in the center meridian the other day! They were running Radar, lasers and an airplane spotting speeders. I feel like a B-52 pilot over Hanoi, circa 1971. Everybody is gun'en for me.
For extra points, they have an unmarked SUV, an unmarked Volvo and a bunch of other vehicles they use for freeway traffic enforcement. Thats just plain low.
As for the daily speed trap - I try to hide behind big trucks until I pass the trap, downshift and floor it.
They oughta just set up a toll booth on the freeway. The Washington State Patrol guys could jut sit in their nice warm toll booth, stay out of the bad weather and have plenty of doughnut money to boot!

a volvo in their speed patrol - that is hilarious! no one would pick that. Our cops just recruited new red Suburbu WRXs, they are super fast.
and yup Justin - either buy an island - or bring your Z to Oz, the world's biggest island. My boyfriend migrated from the states 12 years ago, he's never looked back.

past an emergency vehicle? like, when it was lit up? ????
A:
yeah...lol
but it was a cop that had pulled over another vehicle... and i was in the close lane to the shoulder... going the speed limit...
as soon as i passed... he pulled up behind me... so i moved to the other lane... then he got behind me again so i moved to the shoulder and stopped...
and then he asked did you see my lights...
i said yeah what about them? he said don;t you know that you are suppose to move to the far lane and slow down when passing an emergency vehicle... i said no... he said yeah they just made it a law...
i said oh sorry about that i didn;t know... so he took my insurance and license and went to his car and came back with a ticket...

My 350Z car handles great and has real good thrust coming out of curves. I love the torque on demand at almost any RPM and in virtually any gear as I clip the apex of certain curves that I know and love on my way to and from work. I just love those lateral g forces and how the rear end squats when I power induce a tad of oversteer sometimes when I can't resist the urge!! You know...when the red mist rises (ha).
Yea, and besides all that... a really cool sexy woman says to me, "350Zs give me standing orgasms". God help me, but I do love it so!
I am actively working on changing my not yet installed twin turbo set up to have the larger 3" exhaust/hi flow cats rather than the original 2.5"exhaust/2.5" test pipes combo. I am trying to work the 3.5 inch test pipes into the deal for track use (they are loud and not sure if I want to run them on the street as a cop magnet??? - untill I hear it .) If all goes well, I hope to then make the trek to get the TTs installed. (I have been waiting till the snow season is over in Chi town as my stock tires absolutely stink on icy roads! And it is a long drive from MD to Chicago.) The twin turbos should give me the power, straight-line g forces, and need for speed aspect to make this a really good all around performance sports car.
Bottom line, I just like how the car feels during performance driving. And I have driven a lot of sports cars. I still think it is a real good car for the money and I have had her 2 years now as of last week.
A:
I hear all your stories about cops and speeding tickets and I agree! I am mostly going to the tracks to really let my 350Z unwind. There are "test and tune" days when you can run as often as you want without the long waiting times between classes on racing/elimination days. But I have done both. I was running 13.9s pure stock (except for tranny work). Not bad. That should massively improve when I FINALLY get my twin turbos installed. I am slow and methodical but I will get it done. Not all of this is my own fault as my tranny work took 3.5 months last summer/fall and totally F!!#ed up my whole time schedule big time! And my job keeps cutting into my day! (he he) But even I am getting SICK of how long this is taking. Sssshesh! Makes me soooo mad, I want to go out and burn some rubber and wrinkle the pavement with twin turbo torque! Yeah...that's the ticket (double he he!)
