'06 & Consumer Reports

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

April,'06 edition of Consumer Reports says about the '06 Z, " The ride was once harsh and uncomfortable, but has been improved as well.
Can anyone confirm this? If it is true, could the '03-04-05 be retrofitted?
Is this changing the ride to the G35 and the main question: Will this
fix the tire problem?
Actually I would love to make the ride a bit more like the G35 Coupe, which I owned before trading to the Z.
Anybody?

Dude, its a freakin sports car, its supposed to be stiff! Why on earth would you want it to drive like a sedan?!
You can alleviate most of your tire problems by adjusting your suspension with a little more toe-in.
If you really want a nice suspension, and I mean a NICE suspension, and fix your tire problems, you should look into an aftermarket suspension. A friend of mine claims that replacing just the control arms alone with no other changes fixed his suspension:
Of the control arms you can get, Cusco or Kinetix will allow you the most positive camber adjustment which will help with tire wear, and probably won't be enough to significantly harm performance. (Note that +/-(x) degrees is from stock, so setting it at +1.0 is +1degree from stock, not actually 1 degree of positive camber... if that makes any sense.)

In my opinion my 06 rides better than previous models that I have driven. They also improved the brakes because I have absolutely no brake dust on any of the wheels.
A:

That has nothing to do with the brakes themselves, but the brake pads. Try changing your stock pads to Hawks and you should not have nearly as much dust.

I have been driving Z's since '78 when I purchased a used 260Z which I still have with Turbo Tom Kit, R200, close ratio 5 sp, Turbo motor, with
forged alum pistons, "O" ringed heads, Electromotive igntion, water injection, 4 wheel discs, roll bar, AND LOWERED HARD SUSPENSION. I was about 26 yrs old then. Now at 58 yrs old, my body does not stand up to the same abuse. When you guys get near this age, you will understand.
Also, while Consumer Reports has in the past been less than enthused about sports cars in general, I found the commentary interesting. Back in the '60s I thought their ideal car was a Rambler. ( If you are young enough to remember.) Now, their ideal car is a 4 dr. Honda Accord.

"what do you mean by "fixed" his suspension? what was wrong with it?"
Nothing was wrong with it other than it ate tires. Now it apparently doesn't with a +1degree adjustment. I'll see if I can get you some pictures or something.

Thanks alot. Is that +1 deg. from stock or just +1 deg. Appreciate the help.

Do you mean change to Hawk ceramics? The "ceramic" in change brake pads is what helped me significantly. Raybestos.
