you dont read Car Talk, do you? haha. just busting on you, im sure others dont as well. As far as the "09 Z" i dont trust edmunds anymore than my personal opinion.
"interior changes will be subtle with most of the upgrades geared toward adding comfort and increased practicality"
yea wow must of taken alot sluething to figure that out. more practicality AND comfort in an interior...jesus, thats ground breaking news edmunds.

Did you notice what they were saying about the most common changes to the Z? Amenities to make it a more comfortable daily driver. Get ready for the 2009 Z31.

Even the first year 2003 had too much fluff on it to be a basic sports car. But then so many people are fluffy any more. Give me no AC, hand crank windows, manual locks, low weight and reliability any day. A blasphemy in the halls of the fluff lovers with candy arses.

there has to be a happy medium between business and satisfying the hardcore enthusiast. A barebones Z33 like what you're talking about would stick out like a sore thumb in todays market, but 30 years ago it would be fine cause most cars had crank windows and manual locks, etc etc. Sure maybe people would buy a bare bones Z33 but then Nissan has to design 2 different door panels and electrical components and if you want cheaper materials for dashes, AC deletes etc etc its less options but complicates production and increases costs. You have to think economies of scale. thus why the VQ35 is in pretty much every Nissan. The base model Z33 is pretty basic, compared to similarly priced cars at 28k. I mean the average price of a new car these days is atleast 25K. Everybody complains that the Z33 has too much "luxury" or whatever but they dont understand business. Times have changed, welcome to 2006, things arent the same as they were 35 years ago.

i'm curious where srl311 lives that he's willing to give up A/C.
my 240z's A/C doesn't work and it's fine most of the time, but not for extended periods on hot days.

well i must admit, while the business aspect of a stripped Z wouldnt make sense i wouldnt mind having one. The only time ive ever used the AC is when its been sweltering hot out and ive had a passenger. I hate using AC and never use it when im in the car myself and it gets pretty hot in jersey in the summer months. I do need a good stereo though, i cant live without music.

Try living in Nashville, TN. You would be singing a different tune. A/C is a must here. You have no choice. For instance, on July 30 coming back from the NICO import show at LP field....my temp gauge read 104 degrees farenheit. Then add in the fact that I was in a black car, with the exhaust heat seeping through the floorboards. Windows down just doesn't cut it.
