CAI Filter Recharge.

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Hello,
I have a K&N CAI and was wondering how often you guys recharge your filters? I was also wondering what this requires. I assume you just blow the filter out from the inside and then apply the oil. Is this correct?
Thanks
A:

When you pick up the re-fill kit it has all the instruction.
But basically you just run it under tap water (not high pressure) from the inside out.
Let it dry completely.
Re-oil with the oil provided.
Re-install.
As for how often...it really depends on your driving conditions.
The more dirt and dust you encounter, the more often you should clean it.
I do mine once a year (the car is parked all winter).

The K&N filter recharger kit come with a cleaner solution and filter oil.
1. Spray on the cleaner, let is soak in, and then rinse out the filter with running water, no high pressure.
2. Let the filter dry. In a warm area or the sun it will dry faster.
3. Re-oil the filter just enough to make it red again. If you over oil the filter it will drip all over.

I over did mine. It's a bit goozy in the air box now where the filter seats against the plastic. I threw my stock filter back in until I can put some time into the K&N.

i clean mine every 2 months at the minimum.

The cleaning process is the same as the JWT. Here's my comments from another thread. Just more added info for ya....
My SB ZR still feels like HEAVEN....what a wild ride!

no, i don't live on a dirt road, but i do live around a lot of road construction. you could probably get away with cleaning it once a year, but to me that sounds crazy. there's no such thing as too clean or too much air flow. cleaning your air filter is more important than cleaning your car in my opinion.
