A&Q about 350Z
Q:

The shop that is doing the work on my sons car btw its a 02 sentra specV with a fully built and boosted engine and built trans .Anyway they are doing a few twin turbo kit on 350z & g35 I was wondering if any of you guys have had this done and how you like it since I really havent got to talk to the owners of the cars

Talk to MorePower, he's got the APS Twin Turbo kit. Not sure if he's actually had it installed yet, but he's the turbo kit guru around here.
As far as I'm concerned, a single big turbo with custom built manifolds is the best way to go.

I dont have a 350 just wondering how the car responds to the kit .I saw where they have a single turbo kit as well

i have a hard enough time keeping my wheels from spinning without a turbo. i can't imagine how it would be with a twin turbo. or even a single for that matter.

There are sayers and doers. He talks a lot so far (correct and incorrect). I'm not listening much until he actually installs it and he runs the dyno on it like he said.
A:

i'd say he's more than a talker since he's actually got the kit.

The dyno will speak louder than anything.

That is a gray area. It is not illegal to install a turbo kit that is not CARB approved in California, it is illegal to operate a car with a non CARB approved engine conponent that would effect emissions on public streets and freeways. Which means if you go to get your turbo equiped 350Z smog tested, it will not pass the visual test (of course that may not be 100% true).
I opted for a complete CARB approved FI solution since I live in the great socialist republic state of California. I went with a Vortech supercharger which is CARB approved, exhaust is Nismo, which is CARB approved, and later going with DC headers, which is CARB approved. Get the pattern? I have been talking to the shop that is doing the CARB testing for APS Twin Turbo, and last I talked to them they had a test last month. Eventually, I may scrape the supercharger and the headers and go with a CARB approved turbo kit but if they have to scale back the power to get the CARB approval, I may have the same HP as my supercharger setup (although more torque), in that case, my plans might change.

a turbo is definitely the way to go. Superchargers are good, but nowhere near the same potential that turbos can provide.

Thanks Cali.. that's rather interesting.
I would wait to see what happens with the APS Twin Turbo for two reasons. 1) financially I dont have a choice. LOL
2) Id rather have the power band of a turbo if they can deliver it and be CARB approved.
I didnt follow what you meant by MAYBE pass the visual test though? Why would anyone at a smog station be motivated either way with a visual test?
'06 Silverstone 6 speed touring. WOW. Just WOW!

The smog sniff test should not be a problem passing with a turbo unless you are tuned very badly. We're assuming that the technician performing the smog test is trained to spot aftermarket components during the visual, that's all. Waiting is the best bet for you it sounds like.

Cali_350z, my first choice has been the Turbonetics single turbo kit for my '03 350Z but obviously I need to have something that is CARB leagl also. Today I noticed that Vortech had a CARD EO number for their kit which makes it extremely attractive.
Can you tell me what else you had to replace when you installed the kit? What part of CA are you in and where did you have the work done? I am in Orange County and looking for a shop that can install and tune the kit. Did you have to have dyno tuning? I assume you did.
Oh, does this kit come with a form of intercooler or aftercooler? What clutch you going with?
Thanks for your help, you may be able to keep me from making some very expensive mistakes!
