A&Q about 350Z
Q:
Crawford plenum, injen cai, headers, nismo exhaust, ts reflash, dyno 296 rwh...272 tq...base model with 17 wheels
A:
ahhhh, nice setup. still having a hard time believing you're beating 911's but those will certainly help. Well, yea i guess youd be in that range, the base 911's run low 13's...so kudos to you
have you hit up a track at all to see what times your running?

Not yet, we have a track day set up for the end of march, but im very happy with my numbers..and it only cost about $1500 in performance mods, with the $26000 price of the car i have a realy fast car for under $28000, like nissan said more bang for the buck...shes almost 3 1/2years old now but i still love that car..pre-order..rec aug 2002 #303 BRICKYARD

One night I was minding my business, around 2am, I was going around 130km, sorry I live in Canada, don't know in miles. But anyways all of a sudden this car out of nowhere were going about 160km. This highway is a long stretch. So I try to catch up with them. When I caught up to them within 10 secs. I thought it was a male driver. but luck of the draw 2 girls in the car. So I sped faster than them I was going around 200km/hr. I didn't realize I was going that fast. The two chicks were trying to catch up with me with their GS integra. Anyways I'll make the story short, the girls had to exit in one of the ramp, so I slowed down so they could catch a glimse of me :). They were both smiling and gave me a thumbs up. That was the my best experience I ever had..........both of them weren't bad looking either

A:
fastest i've had mine going was 145. i was on a straight stretch by myself. i started coming up on some other cars so i had to let off the gas. it takes a really long stretch to max it out. at about 135 there's no more fast accelleration, it just ticks up one mph at a time.

YMMOT- Plenum, cai, headers, nismo exhaust, reflash for 1500.00$? Something is wrong here.
A:
I raced a C4 Corvette in my 1985 300ZX and got up to 135 or so at about 4AM. We raced over about 25 miles of freeway before we started getting close to downtown and I bailed for fear of getting pulled over.
I specifically went to a rich part of town early early in the morning to find a rich yuppy in a sports car on his way to work, and race him down the freeway. This guy took the bait instantly and was quite a fun race across town and a couple major freeways.

A:
yea im pretty sure that $1500 was just for the parts...install should have cost much more unless he did it all himself or had a hook up from a friend...well intake, exhaust, and plenum can be pretty easy DIY stuff but headers are more complicated

I believe that it is Dougs - it is in the prototype stage awaiting dyno from what I understand, I am sure it will either get tweaked for the hood or he will do some kind of custom job. And exactly what is "dumb" about it? Those who know Crawfords products know that they are usually way ahead of the curve on mods for the Z and there have been a lot of rumors that 300 RWHP NA is on the horizon. Which is exactly my point in questioning the 296 RWHP claimed earlier. But what do I know - I have only a Kinetix plenum and Popcharger - hell, still have the original crappy 6 spoke wheels. Thats what happens when your kid turns 16 and you buy her a car instead of putting the money in Z mods!
A:
yeah that's kinda gay with no hood! Are you actually driving around everywhere with no hood?

Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, but c'mon? You can get more HP another way, and still have your hood in place. It looks very odd in my opinion, but don't blow a nut over my comment, just ask anyone you drive past, lol.
=(
A:
OK, does no one here understand "prototype"? Call me Captain Obvious, but I don't think anyone is going to mod their car to the "no hood" look! Jeesh! And since no one knows how much HP, or how much it will cost, or even if and when it might be available, why don't we just keep an eye on Crawford Z and see what develops? Not to be rude or anything..... Just thought a few around here might appreciate some thing new on the horizon. Guess maybe I hijacked the thread anyway. My bad.
A:
...Don't sweat it. Maya likes to chime in before really thinking about what he is saying. I find myself readings his posts several times trying to figure out how he justifies some of the things he says. I think he means well though
I like the pic. I live about twenty minutes from Doug's shop. I may have to go check out his latest development. He does do some fantastic things with the Z cars. I wan't wait for the money to put my plenum spacer in!

Ok, how man of us would drive our Z down the street looking like that?????
Anyone?????? ahhh, yeah, hm, yep, uhhuh, yeah. Needs a hood! Period!
Nice setup though!!
A:
Does he have two intakes on that engine? Why is one different than the other? Any ideas?

i want to mod my car by taking the hood and the hatch off. i'm sure it'll add at least 100 hp

i was joking..
although, that would need to be one hell of a hood mod since the filters stick up too high on both sides. it would be difficult to make it look good.

Okay Maya, since you do not seem to be getting it:
pro·to·type ( P ) Pronunciation Key (prt-tp)
n.
An original type, form, or instance serving as a basis or standard for later stages.
An original, full-scale, and usually working model of a new product or new version of an existing product.
An early, typical example.
Does this help you at all? What you are supposed to be seeing is the work on the engine, NOT the missing hood. I am beginning to feel sorry that I ever brought it up. And thanks DrivenZ - I met Doug at ZDayZ last year; in fact I am almost ashamed to admit I went for a little off-road adventure on Rt 28 trying to keep up with a pack of cars being led by Doug; I was following an aquaintance of his driving a pretty hot Vette and got a bit carried away. Anyway, the man knows more about the 350 than the sum total of the posters on this thread (no insults intended) and several of my friends have his products on their 350's; never heard a bad thing about any of them. And while I am on a roll, I am officially running up the BS flag on 296 whp with a NA 350 AND beating 2 911's even light to light, especially with original 17" wheels. Bu-bye.
A:
My bad. Don't bite my head off, I am still young, hehe.
A:
This is getting personal
