Best time to buy

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

Besides end of year clearance sales, when else is it a good time to buy a new car? I want to get my Z already, but I just don't want to regret when better deals come along.
A:

Better deals will always come along. As soon as you wait to buy one, the new model comes out. Just try to find a car you want and get a deal at invoice price if you're buying new, you can't do better than that. Usually buying last year's car off the lot when the new models come out is the best bet (but the new model is out, and you might want it more!). Good luck -

Remember, even if you save a few hundered bucks, the resale of having the older model in the future will offset that. The trick is to get the newer model after the hype and initial demand wears off for as close to invoice as possible. Saving money while buying a new car is a bit of an oxymoron my friend, but I understand your concerns.

yea try for invoice...end of the month maybe...if its still cold out in your area, buy it now before warm weather hits...if you plan on keeping the car for the long haul whether its an 05 or an 06 wont matter much, so if thats the case try for an 05. buying a dealer demo is always an option, which is what i did, you remain the first owner and it should be titled as a new car

Buy the car when you want it. Get the best deal you can and move on.
If you must look at prices afterward, just say "Hmmm." Everything can be gotten cheaper after you buy it for any number of reasons.
Buy it, drive it, park it, enjoy it.

Do your home work on the net and go into the dealer with your info and tell them what you want to pay. If it is a new model, 2006, then I usually offer invoice. If they say no...you walk. If it is a 2005 offer below invoice...again if they say no...you walk.

In an effort to increase sales, GM should be rolling out the 2009 models any day now...

I'd suggest two tactics; look for a vehicle at a dealer's internet site as this is where you can save money as there is no salesman required and the OH is less. Then buy near the end of the month, particularly the last day of the month as this is when they need to meet a quota. At one dealership I went to they offered me a free TST treatment and $1500 off the listed price. It was a Base model and I wanted an Enthusiast as a minimum and found a Touring at a dealer's web page for $25 with 33K miles.
