Question for Nissan insiders (or the ones that really know): Does the dealer ship the old tranny back?
I would like to grab it since I know what's wrong with it, fix it and use in another project.

I'm not an insider, but I seem to recall a post last year about this, but I couldn't find it. As I recall they wanted it back to rebuild it maybe. There seemed to be a question about whether the "new" transmission was really new or one of these rebuilt ones. Just the best that I can remember, maybe not.

Nissan keeps the transmission for examination. However, sometimes the zone rep will check it out and let the dealer dispose of it. That is where you would get one. Ask the dealer if you can buy it.

I wash cars at Infiniti every now and then...and they have a pile of exhaust parts and transmissions laying out back that were pulled out of service cars---most of the stuff was pretty new
