Clear bra is the way to go, IMHO.

I have the clear bra on bumper and hood. The hood is covered up to a little above were the head lights stop. The fenders are covered as well. I drove a few thousand miles before I got it and what a mistake that was! I now have 4-5 chips on the hood under the clear bra but none since it was installed. best money I ever spent.

I have a brand new bra that I bought way back but never used it. It's black and it has the spot for the dealer mounted plate on the front. Let me know if you're interested in it, I'll sell it to you for $50 plus shipping.

Get one from Colgan. I use mine for freeway runs. Around town it's not needed.
My wife and I agreed that on the darker colors the edge of the clear bra showed too much. It looked like someone scratched the hood and fenders.
However, on the yellow, white, CS, or the lighter colors etc.... the clear bra works really good. It's just a bit expensive at $600 for me. You could respray the whole front end for $400 or less IMHO.
This is why we went with the Colgan bra. We figured for $100 it would protect the front end and we could take it off as needed. (Car shows etc...) Then if we hated the look, we could do the clear bra later if we felt the need to and sell the bra. We haven't seen the need to do so and we don't have any chip on the hood since we install the bra for long trips at high speeds.

I have an '03 Track.
It has the clear bra on the nose, infront & behind the front tires, infront & behind the rear tires, and on the rocker panels. I've had the old fashioned fake leather ones in the past, and didn't like the damage they caused at all. I would never use anything else again.
The onlly issuw is getting the was off the edges where the bra ends and the clearcoat meets.

Almost all have occurred on my car above the point where the Colgan or Clear Bra would have provided coverage.
It seems to go with the territory. The car's paint chips when you just look at it funny, and the aluminum hood seems to be very susceptible.
I've stopped worrying about it. Good luck to you.

Here is the site for the clear bra:
www.invisiblemask.com
Check out the site - it appears the item is really invisible if properly installed and has no detrimental effect on the paint and does not make the paint look a different color.
It is pretty expensive though:
Hood, fender, & mirror kit - $154
Front bumper/air dam - $189
Headlight - $51
This item is like those appliques that you can stick on your windows i your car or at home. The site lists installers. Since there are a lot of curves and contours I think I'd have it installed prefessionally then it is their jpb to get it to look right
