To Trade or Not To Trade

A&Q about 350Z
Q:

I've got an 04 350z Touring 6 speed roadster. Mint condition, 12k miles on it. I road race here in the northeast as soon as the season starts. Late Feb. into Nov. Tracks I race at are Pocono (road courses), Lime Rock, Watkins Glen and VIR.
My primary track car is a supercharged Miata. When it is down or when I feel like it I use my Z.
I bought my wife a Boxster (tiprtonic-she refuses to learn to drive a stick and therefore cannot use any of our other fun cars)) for Christmas. My first impressions were this car sucks, the tiptronic sucks.
But the more I've driven it the more I liked it--the tiptronic still sucks. I am very impressed with the handling (and the 2 large trunks). I hate to admit it but it is definitely superior to the Z--handling & trunk space.
I started researching the Boxster S. Statistically it is equal to the 350z, 0 to 60, 0-100. But, is superior on the skid pad and handles the g's much better.
I am thinking of trading my 350Z for a Boxster S (I still have my 93 300zx convertible, I will never sell it-I will always be a member of the Z family).
I don't want to lay out any cash, I am looking for an even up trade on a low mileage (under 25K) Boxster S. I am not willing to trade my 04 for an 01. I have not yet found a dealer willing to trade an 02 even up. They typically want about 3-4k and the Z.
My question to the Z community is what do you guys think of my idea.
Thanks.

I think your Idea sucks. You'll never gonna get an even trade. Dealers will downgrade the value of your Z to make a profit. If skidpad is your thing, you can always get a good suspension and sway bar, as well as lighter wheels with good tires. The 350Z's balance is better than the boxter S due to its weight distribution. Road and Track tested the 350Z, Corvette ( I don't remember what model), BMW M3, and Porche 911. At willow springs race track, the Z clocked second place to the Corvette. Although both the M3 and 911 times are just a fraction of a second slower, this gives you an idea on how good the Z handles at corners, considering it has the least HP numbers among the cars tested. So if the Z beats the 911 on that track configuration, how do you think the Boxter S with less HP will do?

Used 911 Turbos are the only way to go. Forget the white-haired old-man Boxster.

Got some interesting feedback. Thanks for everyones comments.Turns out I can get an 01 Boxster S even up. I can get an 02 Boxster S for my car and 3-4 grand. I still think the S outhandles the Z, but an 02 Boxster S is not worth my pristine triple black
350 roadster and a few thousand bucks, and there is no way I am letting my 04 go in exchange for an 01.
By the way, the mid-engined Boxster is about the most well balanced car out there. The 911 believe it or not does not outhandle the Boxster, it outpowers it, but the new Cayman will outhandle and outrun the S and the 911. Same engine layout as the boxster, but more power and much stiffer body/suspension. I'm hanging on to and going to keep enjoying my Z33 roadster.
