Q:
not sure what brand we used, but just something from auto zone. the side windows are streaked but the front and rear windshields are more splotchy.
A:
there have been other threads about this... it the roller inside the door that leaves a vertical streak.. this is a problem that most of us are aware of and live with it..i dont know what you mean about not being able to see...are you talking about the front wind shield? if so ..no problem here..

go to www.zainobros.com and look up the glass polish. You're going to need a high-speed buffer, because I bet you have what I had. It looks like someone left soap on the windshield, and it dried in dots and streaks - but no matter how much you try to wipe it off, it shows up - especially in certain lights, and jumps out at you if you wipe across it with a damp towel.
You have etched glass. Heat or chemical etching. Polish it out. If you want, you can use Rhodite, which is a harsher glass polish, if the Zaino product isn't strong enough. Good luck.
Believe only what you think, not what you feel.
A:
Use a non scratch surface cleaner like soft scrub, it will remove all of the hard water or soap spots and also is good for windshield wiper chatter. Then use a good glass cleaner like sprayway and you should be good to go.

Soft Scrub on your windows? Wow. That stuff takes everything right off our sink surfaces. I can't even begin to imagine the abrasive action it would take on your glass.
Wow again.

if it's on the inside, it may take some time to work it off. Very diligent application of a really good window washing mixture. I have found none of the commercial products are worth a crap. They all leave their own brand of films behind.
I'd try vinegar and water. Apply, remove, buff. Reapply, remove, buff. And streaks are really hard to find and eradicate. You'll find them all and remove them if you look for them. But one or three always linger, so you'll go "Dammit" while backing out of the driveway and the light hits a surface just right. It will drive you mad.
Good luck, blue.
A:
Try using white vinegar and wipe it clean with newspaper.

If your Z windshield is anything like mine (and a few others), just wait for it to crack or chip (it will eventually) then get your insurance to replace it. If you have good insurance like me, it will cost you $50 tops and it won't increase your premiums since it's not a collision cost. You'd avoid all the vodoo methods of cleaning or polishing!

I'm sorry i was going to write that but got a sudden case of lazyitis... and decided not to...
