well the bmw fourm sucks
1984 bmw 325e e30 m20(2.7l slant 6 FI AFM) automatic
car idels perfect nice and smooth around 700-800
but the car has no power at all - when i first start it and let it sit a minute or 2 the first time i rev it in park or neutral i can get it to 4 grand after that it is only 3 or a littel more
when drivving if i floor it the revs only reach 3 or 3250 and it wonte shift unless i let off (top speed so far is 68mph and thats only if you can play the pedal just right and get it to stay in overdrive and still gain some rpm)
it also like to occassionanly die - sometimes just sitting there sometimes while driving - sometimes while driving it will start back up on its own without me doing anything - and sometimes its easy to restart and sometimes i have to wait awhile then it starts back up
i have checked/replaced plugs, cap, rotor, coil, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter, tranny flush, oil
anyone got any ideas - i have cleaned some of the connections - AFM head temp coolant sensor - they all looked good but i cleaned them up some anyway and the AFM connector is loaded with electrical grease
anyone got any ideas - the coil i just put in a couple days ago from pick n pull just went out - could it have been the coil all along?

If I remember correct these BMWs have the same type of EFI system as the 280Z/ZXs, L-Jetronic. I would suggest that you run throught the exact same cleaning and testing procedures as you would with a Z. See if you can get a hold of a manual to test the sensors, I don't know if they have the same set of values as the ones on the Z do.

What BMW forum do you use? There are a bunch of good ones...and a bunch that are complete crap. I drive an e30 325is btw...e30's are awesome.
