Q:

i found a 82 0r 83 (not sure yet) 280zx turbo. its all original no apperant rust no body damage, very good interior. it runs good but hasnt been driven much in the last 4yrs. the only thing i can find wrong with the whole car is the clear coat on the paint is peeling off. it is black with black interior. it is an auto trans. an old guy (69) i know has it . it belonged to his daughter and when her family out grew it ( its a coupe) she sold it to her dad . he is kinda big and doesnt like driving it ( he drives a caddy go figure). he offered it to me for $1500.00
i have an 80 280zx coupe and an 80 280zx 2+2 parts car. my 80 runs ok but needs some body work paint and interior work. it too is all original and i want to restore it back to good condition. it is not a car i want to restore to sell but planned on keeping.
the wife says too many cars and i have to give up the 80s if i want the newer one.
so should i sell the two 80 zxs to get the newer turbozx and hope i can get enough $ out of them to get it cause that also is a factor?
is there a big enough advantage to the turbo to try this? i m not really looking at speed or racing. im 49 and will just be driving around to enjoy a sports car on a sunny day.
what do you guys think???

I'd go for the turbo. It was maintained decently it would be a good car and it sounds to be a good starting point for resto.

If it's in the shape you say it is then yes, $1500 is a good price. Turbos aren't incredibly difficult to work with and there's plenty of gurus here.

Yea, I think the N/A cars would soon be gone in favor of a turbo.
Black, bumperless, 78 Z with MSA superturbo system, K/N cone filter, ported intake, and exhaust manifolds.....15.9 @87 mph.

Buy the turbo & fix up the 80 for your wife or kid.
Anyone can drive a new car.

If the turbo ZX is in such a good shape I would buy it and use it only for nice weather. Keep your 80 Zx for daily driver. I use my 79ZX as a daily driver and my 79 roadster as a nice weather car.
