well it depends on what engine that vette has in it and its condition..... if its a 350 in bad shape you might be able to take it......

The guy won't run the Corvette like a teenager. So you're up against the Z.
Answer: no.
Maybe he'll run you on the mini-cycle.

I have an old Corvette next to my Z, too.
I don't run the Corvette against anything; she's not that kind of girl.

looks like the Z and the vet have the same size tires in the rear.maybe the vet will lose all kinds of traction and the Z will pull of an 1/8 mile win.i think the vet would catch it in the quarter mile.

The tire widths are probably close and those older vettes were not fast in the 1/4 mile by todays standards and newer performance cars times so it could be rather close. that old vette probably handles not well also, so get him in some curves. it would be fun anyway.
get your dad out of the garage and race. my son and i do all the time. its fun and i drive my vette like i stole it all the time shifting at 6500 pretty much stop light to stop light etc.

With good reflexes on your part I think you'll be about even in the first few inches -
but then you have that bike and wall to contend with;
I'd think it would slow you both down considerably.

My best friend has a 67 Vette and we take the cars cruisin every chance we get. He loves to drive my Z on the switchback curves and always makes the comment "I wish my Vette was as tight as this car".
We have never "raced" the cars against each other, but this spring we may get an opp to "run em" and see what happens. He only gets his car out on perfect days. Can't blame him, mine is a daily driver and his car is worth more than my house.
BTW, what year is your Dad's? I am guessing a '65. I have always preferred the split window coupes over the convertibles.

"it has a high-performance vette 327 small block"
327=best old tech small block Chevrolet ever made, IMHO.
Unless you have a turbo or a built L28, don't even try it.
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!
A:

no you can't "take 'em". you'll need some more help with photograghy to take better ones. to "take em" properly you will need at least a better angle, lighting, backdrop, context and follow the "rule of thirds" (see below).

its a 66', 63 had the split window in the back..

i have to agree with erzelda on this one . i guess you could go by which car makes the biggest bump on the outside of the garage wall. hehe
but seriously back in the days of racing my challenger the only thing that came close to me was a 67 chevelle with a built 327. i couldnt beleive how much they got out of that small block.

I raced a '65 coming back from the got-z meet in denver last year. We started from about 80 and he was right on my bumper till I hit 120. He couldnt keep up after that. very nice car, looked like it was just restored so I'm guessing he had an overdrive trans in it although I could be wrong. What would a stock' 65 vette top out at anyway?
Edit: Although from a standstill I'm preety sure I would have been owned.

How is a 350hp (or even 365hp w/ fuel injection)327 "better" than a 370hp LT-1?
When I build my dream '67 Corvette, I'm going either 377 or 407 small-block. Now all I have to do is find the mystical little-old-lady-with-Corvette-in-barn.

Those LT-1's were awesome.
