I think those are the ones that I have -- a buddy of mine said something about westerns...
A:
I put wheels on my car. I put rims on my kids bicycle.

They look like Westerns often called cyclone or turbine style.
Rims don't go on bikes either, rims are the edge around a wheel.

Yeah, they do look alot like the ones on my Z -- I'll clean one up and take a picture (it'll be in the dark but I'll try to illuminate it)
A:
Nah those are wheels, not rims. U just about made a big mistake there.

Wheel = Tire + Rim
Rim = The piece that has the tire placed around it
Tire = What goes around the rim

tr.v. rimmed, rim·ming, rims

I refuse to call wheels "rims", a rim is part of the wheel. Calling them rims is like calling the the whole wheel spokes or hubs. Calling them rims is wrong but saying you have 20 inch rims or whatever is techically okay. It might sound stupid when people say it but 20inch wheels have 20 inch rims.

who cares? lol
i use them interchangeably

Sheesh you guys are anal. Nothing wrong with "RIM".
blue 2+2, you even posted it in that definition:
"3. A circular metal structure around which a wheel tire is fitted.
tr.v. rimmed, rim·ming, rims" part 3 of "rim"
From that (which, without a reference to the source of your quote I don't even know where you got it... maybe you made it up...) it's obvious that in some cases rim can be used to describe a wheel.
Frick, everyone uses slang here all the time and using rim instead of wheel is about the mildest form of slang.
Don't worry about it Morgan, these guys just have nothing better to do than redefine words in the English language. Sorry I don't know anything about those RIMZ!!!!

Agree, who really cares. Everyone knows what people are talking about when they say rims. I seen more than enough posts where the spelling and grammer is so bad, it is hard to even follow the post. Wheels or Rims, either one is fine with me.

Jeez. Sounds like some people need to get a job working for Webster so they can change the english language for us.
Thanks to those who id ed them as Westerns. I typically prefer the stock rims/wheels/dubs (heh) with the big pimpin stock hubcaps to custom ones but am slightly partial to a few alloy ones. Thanks again.

Rich, justin: apparently enough of us do to make a statement about it.

sorry mike, but i count 6 vs 5 with "who cares?" winning. not sure where you get 8 vs 2.
i'm counting the people that didn't choose either as a vote for the "who cares?" crew, but even if i don't we still have 5.

I had those on my car for 10 years. They were 14x7" american racing "vector". But they came in other sizes and brands.

My fault justin. But 6 is still more than five and I'll count progun in with us since he did use 'wheels' instead of 'rims' in his statement.
And for someone with the "Agreed. Who really cares?" mentality, you sure went out a bit farther than me to correct my counting (even if it was wrong). I have no problem admitting that calling wheels, rims peeves me. And by the looks of the posts, I'm not alone. It's the same priciple as calling an internal combustion powerplant (or engine)...a motor. Motors are powered by electricity (reserve responses to that for another thread).

The post I made above about the rims versus wheels was gleaned from the Firefox dictionary search. Some of you guys are babys about this, Grow up little boys. I thought the last RIM reference from the dictionary was kinda funny........ 3. Vulgar Slang To perform anilingus on, that alone would make me not want to call them rims.............
