Yeah I notice the same effect with my can of compressed air that I use to dust electronics with. After a few minutes of use, the can is FREEZING to the point where I have to constantly switch hands or use my sleeve as a glove.
On Mythbusters they attempted to find the fastest way to cool room temperature beer to 38 deg F. I wish they tried this method! They did, however, successfully use a fire extinguisher to get it cold in under 3 minutes. A lot safer (and most likely cheaper) than using an LP tank and jet engine.

We had big CO2 extinguishers, and when it was time for the "reinspection" there was always a party: lift a beer keg up on an MJ-1A Bomblift using the correct sized rollers, and then discharge all the CO2 bottles at the keg. You will be amazed by how cold a tropical-warm keg of beer can get in just a few cannisters expenditure of Liquid Carbonic!

fire extinguishers may be a lot safer and cheaper, but not near as cool as using a homebuilt jet engine as a beer cooler! its a little overkill, but damn is it cool! HA ha.
speaking of temp changes.....
The fastest temperature change on record is a rise of 49 degrees F in two minutes, from -4 degrees to 45 degrees F. This occurred in Spearfish, South Dakota, January 1943, between 7:30 and 7:32 am.

The release of CO2 from a 20oz paintball tank may have the same affect?

In Texas we have Blue Northers - Very dark line of blue/black clouds across the north horizon - as they pass - 20 to 30 degree drop in temperature in a couple of minutes - worse with rain or sleet.
