Q:
Its come that time again when i need to get new tires. I currently have the Nitto Neo Gens on right now. 225/45/17. Im thinkin about getting them again because i really like them. Plus they come in a good size. Im looking for something that is the same size, maybe a 215/45, but i would definitly like to get the 225's. Im lookin to spend about 500 maybe 550 installed. I want a good tire that will help me with traction in the corners, but will also last a little while because it is my DD.
Any suggestions??

Of course, I won them in a raffle, so "free" is a good price to pay for quality parts.
And I just love the "feel" they give the car, feels like they grip better (they should, they are 224 45's!).
Overall, they feel great. And you know, that's all that matters, John!

This is what I've got: BFGoodrich G-Force TA/KDW http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=g-Force+T%2FA+KDW
I would and will buy them again. They are by far the best wet/dry tire I have ever ran. Can't say much for the treadware, I've only put about 1500 miles on them but they havent worn much with all my spirited driving so far. 1 track day, and the rest on the street and there is no visible wear. I've hit standing water at speed and have been very impressed with how well these tires cut through it. They are far far superior to the touring tires I had on my old wheels. I've got 225/50/16 so you should be able to do the 225/45/17's easily.
'73 Turbo, not much stock. Sold now... :-(

I'd prefer Nittos over just about anything, but I've only used nitto drag tires... something about 555R, that's in my neighbors nova..
Tonyd: check your mail, give me a call if you can.

I'm a Dunlop man myself. Sport FM901s are a fair priced tire and has a pretty good looking tread pattern.

nope the kw's are supposed to be a very performance oriented tire , they say they can be loud(tire roar), and they rent good on your butt, but they are the best bang for the buck as they grip the best , i am going to get them next time i swap tires. and plus the thread pattern looks kick ass!

Green Machine,
Do those stick out from the fender at all? Did you have to roll your fender well with a baseball bat to get the tires to fit? That's the size I want to put on my 73 as well. If I can get away with it, I'd like to put 245s on the back.
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!

I would love to get 245's, but unfortunately they dont make my rims anymore so i cant get bigger in the rear. I have the 225's with 1.25in spacers (+40 offset rims) and there is no tire rub at all on the fenders. I didnt have to roll the lips or anything. Let me try to find a picture to show you.

This is the best picture that i could find while being at work. My tires look puny compared to the novas in front of me!
