Q:

Anyone ever taken the time to closely inspect your car/cars? I've been comparing my cars both past and present and am finding that they seem to have a wide array of inconsistancies. Such as panel placement and spot welds. I know that any machines that were of the same vintage would probably have been pretty inconsistant, but does anyone know exactly how they were built? I'm just curious as to is some of the factory mistakes on my car are man made or machine made.
How much of the body is man made or is it all hand built?

Nissan started using robotics in 1972 for full line assembly. I'm sure there was still alot of hand welding and finishing going on since they were the first ones to incorperate the technology fully.

Dori origato, mr roboto :)

I'd watch it, Matt300ZXT. Quoting 'Dio' may get you in as much trouble as posting pictures of your new parts. 8-)

'73 240Z - L28, otherwise stock, recently purchased
My daddy got jealous and bought a 240Z with the Ferrari 250 GTO bodykit and triple Webers. My car is cool, his is hilarious.

That's not Dio...that's some 80s band I cant remember. Dio writes kick ass songs about holy divers and the likes :)

It was STYX

My apologies, Dio fans. Dio is indeed cool.
I was listening to both Dio and Styx at work this week and got their lyrics confused.
Dio writes about rainbows, unicorns, vikings and other drug induced stuff. It is awesome.
Styx is some of the worst crap I have listened to. (Apart from 'Mr. Roboto' and 'Miss America' which were okay.)
A:

Oh whoops, sorry Zaz, I wasn't even thinking :( And I love Styx, Sail Away (not sure) and Blue Collared Man are awesome...I frequently jam on BCM while I'm warming up on my guitar.
A:

Styx....
At least I got my answer.... My car being a 1/71=hand built. Neato.
Personal favorite "Peices of Eight"

Grand Illusion also. An important point to remember as well is that the first series are for the most part 30+ years old. theres no telling what bodywork was done by whom when.

"Dio writes about rainbows, unicorns, Vikings and other drug induced stuff"
In my experience:
1. Rainbows are natural phenomina and can be enjoyed without drugs.
2. Unicorns are a controversial subject and may well be grounded in truth but the myth has gotten the press - hence the confusion as to what unicorns really are (they are not horses with horns).
after cleaning up after them - drugs are advised.
3. Vikings - The ones I've known are almost only tolerated with liberal use of drugs.
Then you don't care who you associate with.
Better living through chemistry.
Domo Arigato = thank you very much!

Anyone remember the group It's a Beautiful Day? How about the words to Steppenwolf Monster? I remember a squad car that got turned over waiting on Jefferson Airplane to show up. It was a hot day. The band was late. Wine bottles started sailing. More flying wine bottles. Soon a full fledged riot. Cars roll easily if enough people pick up on a side. Those were the days.

Not only do I remember It's a Beautiful Day, but I still have my program and ticket stub from the time I saw them at the Fillmore East. Headliner was Santana, and the ticket cost me $3.50. April 10, 1970. Gas was about .50/gallon and Z cars were under $4,000. Those were definetely the days. I also still have my vinyl of Steppenwolf 'Monster'.

It's "Domo Arigato" which means thank you...
Luckily Clinton averted my wrath by self-correcting! LOL
"Dori" is "Street" like in "Kokusai-Dori", a popular market street in the Okinawian City of Naha.

I've been examining a few particular areas where the car was leaded from the factory as well as the inner most panel of the quarter panel on my passenger side was missaligned before being tach welded resulting in the edge comming really close to the quarter glass window.

Yeah, I was walking home from the auto-parts store (returning the faulty starter they sold me for my old Ford) when I realized my mistake. I thought to myself "If Tony D is a Styx or Dio fan then I am going to get flamed big time!!!"

The gas door on my very early 240 never even had the spring with plate welded to it. No spot welds there.
