Tony - I spoke with Dan today and he now has his Z back from Charlie after the number 6 piston implode. Charlie fixed the tank straps and hoses while he was at it and said the strap was in perfect condition except for where it cracked. A quick weld job was all it needed.
I had asked Charlie to go over the car as Dan's wrenching ability is in direct and opposite proportion to his driving. That said, Dan's intake/exhaust manifold was quite loose as was his carb to intake bolts. Since you had a hand in his car, okay a finger, at The Glen, I'm sure you're not surprised to hear this.
Dan sends his regards......

Good To Hear!
I was thinking about shearing some stainless steel and spotwelding it to the OEM end brackets for the next one I put together.
Used the backhoe to move the layout table and slip roller back to the workshop area in the back yard, and the boy spent the afternoon scotchbriting and oiling the surface.
Now to clean up the old Pexto Slip roller so I can make vintage megaphones for the twice pipes! LOL
Another 20 minutes later in the rental truck showing up to take the backhoe, and my 8" Horizontal Band Saw would have been back there where it needs to be, too!

How did the recent (and ongoing) west coast weather effect your patch? Couldn't have been too bad if you're got earth-moving equipment out and about. Now only if my son was as interested in all this as is yours.

I dug a bit too deeply in several spots and found groundwater.
Good to know it's at 6 feet!
So today we were manually filling in the low spots...we got maybe 75 feet done today after work.
Now I will go rent the foot compaction thingie, and go ram the hell out of the ground and make it solid again.

Tampers are fun...Not as fun as jack hammers, but just as freaking heavy.

Grazie mille to TonyD for sticking his finger in the dike, and everybody else at the Glen who helped out. It's a good thing we got it back on the track, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to burn that piston! Ah well, it was all worth it...
Yup, Charlie said some of the intake manifold and the carb "soft-mount" attachment hardware were loose. STUPID!
