Sorry if this has been posted before. I was just wondering what the 350z owners thought of this guys thoughts on the 350z. The bottom one is of the RX-8 with a little comparison with the 350z. Happy viewing!

I for one think the Mazda RX8 is one very ugly sports car, for some reason it reminds me of a flattened down PT Cruiser. LOL

hmmm.. bad review for the 350z but ive heared otherwise, the worst thing i heared about the 350z in this clip is that it wears u out while your driving ...i hate cars that do that, does it really?

Nah, It is a lot easier to drive than a lot of performance cars. It's so much fun unless you are driving like a mad man it doesn't wear you out. You just want to keep driving it. I guess if you are tracking the car it might.
Not sure where they are getting that. My Firebird wears me out a lot more.
That extra HP in Firebird always keeps me on edge. Touch the gas too stiff and your stepping out. The 350Z always seems under control on edge to me. The 350Z has just the right HP for the street. Everything works really well together.
It's great on long trips. I drive 1000 mile round trips all the time.
Livermore, Ca. to Palm Springs, Ca. and just love it!
I will say this: When I bought the car my thighs would get sore from the bolster on the seat bottom. My legs would actually get numb and I would have to stop and walk around for a couple of minutes after 250 miles or so. After a month or two of driving long trips the bolster broke in and the seat is very comfortable now. I can drive the full 500 miles without any pain now. Weird .... but true. I have heard this from one or two other drivers to. I have stock cloth seats. Oh, the other thing I did was to scotch guard the seats maybe that helped to break them in. It surely, help with the static that builds up on the cloth seat. No more shocks. ;)
The shock from getting out of the car and numbing of my leg worried me at first. However, they are non-issues now after the first couple of months. I have had my 350Z for two years now and I am loving it.

The RX-8 looks like a Saturn, is as comfortable as a mid 80's toyota and has to be floored to get from light to light before you notice it.
The 350Z (although I'm a 280Z fan), looks like sharper version of the new cougar, has comfortable seats and driving position, lets you know whats on the road (i.e. solid handling, but in the critics case, this wore his little british a$$ out) and you don't have to stomp it to know what's under the hood.
Gee which would I prefer to drive.

Heck, I liked the fat pig 300ZXT that he talked about. Not exactly sure why he doesn't like the Z cars. I have loved all my Z's. I have always gotten rid of my Mazda's in the same year I bought them. Talk about pigs the RX-8 is horrible on mileage even those it has a 1.3 liter.

Gone back to basics with the 350Z?! Is he freakin kidding? The 350Z is heavier and has more extra "features" than any other Z ever! Don't get me wrong, its not a bad car at all I really like them, but it is very far from "back to basics"
Is the vq35 really a french developed engine??
ok I just finished watching the whole thing and the only thing I agree with is the cheap plastic on the interior and the freakin huge plastic cover around the rear strut tower brace.
This guy obviously doesn't have much respect for Nissan cars in general, especially judging by the introduction where he bashes every Z after the 240.

I was questioning that as well. I thought this was one of Nissan's award winning engines.

Renault engines have been the most reliable in Formula 1 racing. Their street engine used to be very good also from what I remember.
So I say, so what? As long as it is reliable as the other Nissan engines that'll be fine with me.
A:
I thought the french guy, who was indian by race, designed the exterior and interior only. You know a journalist is useless when he declares a car a 'C-' simply because the flavor of the exhaust tone bothers him. And claiming the car as slow and not being able to 'feel' how fast it is is absolutely idiotic. The guy obviously doesn't like zcars, but I noticed he didn't try to pick on the z32.

i like the rx-8 over the 350z. i would tend to go with the opinions of people who driver hundreds of different sport cars a year than someone who has 1 or 2. that beaing said, the 350z made your damn legs go to sleep and made them soar.. what the F? ive never owned a car that did that... ever. and ive ownd some sh!tboxes in my life.
A:
The RX-8 does handle excellent, just like the rx-7. But notice how excited he is about its 'perfect layout of front engine, rear wheel drive, and LSD'. Same as the 350 but a torqueless engine with bad gas mileage. I lose more respect for this guy on a regular basis.

Clarkson has often said that the 240Z was one of the best cars ever made. The 240Z was ranked higher in his "top 100 cars of all time" than many supercars. He has always said Nissan got it right with the 240Z but kept on ruining it. (I think many of us on this forum will agree with that as well.)
Guys, don't feel offended because a public figure does not like the 350Z. Clarkson is probably the most opinionated auto journalist in the world. He's probably the only one who is brave enough to say that he didn't like the McLaren F1. And that is his opinion as a journalist. He has driven every car out there so I'd trust his opinion more than most people.
BTW, Clarkson is being sarcastic when he said the V6 is French.

Although Clarkson is entertaining and I do agree with him about the McLaren, and the F40 over the F50/Enzo, I've been more impressed with Tiff Needel from Fith Gear. An 'actual' race car driver that drove for the BMW factory team in the 80's an 90's.
He loved the 350z. He didn't like the interior plastics either, but he loved the car. I'll see if I can dig up the two shows they did. One review of the 350z and another comparison/track competition between the Audi TT and the 350z.
The 350z won pretty big on performance and handling and it was priced lower as well.

He bashed my ZX, he is clueless when it comes to a well built, inexpensive GT. I have to call it a GT, a Z is a sports car, in true form.

He's just bitter because his country hasn't produced a decent sports car since the E-Type Jag.

The reason he didn't include the Z32 is that he "kinda" likes it, and he says as much on the "old versus new" competition show. It seems they put together all of the cars that he didn't like in one place. He says the engine is french because it was shared with a Renault, but I doubt it was designed by Renault... it is more likely that Renault borrowed it.
Clarkson is an idiot.

"this wore his little british a$$ out"
Little? Clarkson is a land manatee. I'm suprised he can fit in half the cars he tests.
"And claiming the car as slow and not being able to 'feel' how fast it is is absolutely idiotic"
zlover, as low as my opinion of Clarkson is, I'm gunna have to agree with him here a bit. I got to drive my friend's '04 roadster and when I stepped on the gas, the odo needle raced up through the numbers but the acceleration almost felt too smooth (don't get me wrong, they are fairly quick though). Like, in old muscle cars and Z cars, you step on the gas, and you KNOW you are accelerating and going fast. It just didn't feel like it was accelerating as fast as it actually was.
God must love stupid people, he made SOOOOO many of them!
