Q:
I just wanted to wish those of you who are celebrating boxing day - a very happy one. And if you have never celebrated it then here is an excuse to have one more holiday and really can we have too many reasons to party?-- i think not--
So HAPPY BOXING DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Not a happy boxing day for me, I have to wait another day for my parts in the mail because they have been stuck at the closed post office since the 23rd. Screw the family vibe, I'd rather be the recluse and work on my cars no matter what time of year.
A:
i understand- waiting on parts is a bummer

I believe its the day apon which stuff is returned, traditionally.
It's a British/Canadian notion mostly. In the US its a big trade in and/or buy the stuff you really wanted, on sale day. Boxing day is dealing with boxes.
I'm happy becuase, I finally got some heat in my Z, bypassed the bogus heater control vavle. Woohoo the heater core works just fine! Still gotta replace the control vavle of course. But thats an other day, next weekend hopefully
Cheers

Haha, that's not why it's called boxing day...
Claim: The name of Boxing Day comes from the need to rid the house of empty boxes the day after Christmas.
Status: False.
The name also has nothing to do with returning unwanted gifts to the stores they came from, hence its common association with hauling about boxes on the day after Christmas.
The holiday's roots can be traced to Britain, where Boxing Day is also known as St. Stephen's Day. Reduced to the simplest essence, its origins are found in a long-ago practice of giving cash or durable goods to those of the lower classes. Gifts among equals were exchanged on or before Christmas Day, but beneficences to those less fortunate were bestowed the day after.
And that's about as much as anyone can definitively say about its origin because once you step beyond that point, it's straight into the quagmire of debated claims and dueling folklorists. Which, by the way, is what we're about to muddy our boots with.

Huge load of BS if you ask me; if you have hours to waste reading it all then go for it lol

WTF holiday is this? I swear people come up with the most absurb excuses for a holiday name its ridiculous. Most if not all holidays are to keep florists and merchants in business.
A:
See- Hallmark, enough said.

Wishing people from other countries a happy holiday in their country for a special holiday for their country?...They can kiss my American butt!
Why dont youy find a holiday the Taliban celebrates and wish them a nice hiliday as well...Complaining? Hell no....
A:
"Complaining? Hell no...." Oh no your not complaining, your just crapping all over someones elses holiday, just like the Taliban would.
Now, having some heat in my Z and can now clear the fog from my windows makes merging to the right so much more uhh... comfortable.
Cheers, anyway.

Speaking of boxes -
the grandson of #1 son is now at the age when he wants everything he sees advertised on TV.
At 2 & 3 years the present wasn't as good as the box it came in. Kids played more with the the box. Especially big ones they could get inside.
Daughter-in-law coundn't understand why I we bought small gifts and put them in very large boxes.
