No it is NOT real. I think it is a phishing scheme. You have a mail area on EBay
if you have an account with them and that would probably show up there. You would find this under MyEbay.

yeah....i looked there and didn't see this....but i just changed some information in my account area so i wasn't sure.

When will people learn NO COMPANY will ask you for your password or other credit card information over an email UNLESS that person specifically is filling out an application or otherwise and said company on the app asks for it.
Next time I get an email asking for personal information I will post it on here and get advice on here and if I am told on here to give it out I will...NOT
DUH.....
A:

do NOT reply with any information to this spam. I was sent the exact same letter and i clicked on it , then deleted it, and a few weeks later e-bay had informed me that it was possible that someone had received my password or other account information. ebay changed my password and froze my account until i changed the some account information (password, etc.) as a preventative measure. i guess alot of people DID reply with sensitive info and paid the price for it.

They are spam and spyware and the reason I will never, ever, ever use EBay or any other auction online, I don't care what the savings are. It's not worth the headache of popups, slow or frozen systems, and rebuilding the system. Plus I will not feed into the garbage machinery of the internet. It's supposed to be a resource for all to enjoy without the threat of others interferring. As of now, it is not.

I get that e-mail all the time. I forward it to the address in the subject line of my post.
You will get confirmation within a few minutes most times wether it's real or not.
The real killer is I know it's B.S. for many reasons, usually because they are sending the notice to an address that is not on my e-bay account!
Thye don't request personal information via e-mail, ever...first clue it's a B.S., but I forward it to the spoof address so they know about it there at e-bay...
I get the same thing for pay pal, too---but they don't have a spoof site. When they start showing up in the real linked address, then I'l start worrying. And not before I send it to spoof addy first!

Same here,
I get a lot of emails from So-N-So@yahoo.com disguised as emails from Paypal and saying that Blah Blah Email Address have been added to your Paypal account. If you didn't authorized this or this email address looks unfamiliar, please click here (LINK disguised as a link from Paypal).
Just be careful!

Kinda like all the emails from "banks" that I have received over the last few months asking me to update my info: unfortunately I do not bank with them to begin with.

Most of these scams are based out of Nigeria and neighbouring countries, same goes with the inheritance or lottery scam emails. Only a retard would be fooled by them really... If anything sounds too good to be true then it most likely isn't true at all :P

They're smart and make thousands of dollars from those scams, and practically impossible to catch them because they all live in 3rd world countries for the most part.

Please don't fall for these scams. Put aside your fear and look at them logically, it is idiotic. Everyone gets a bit of concern when they first see things like this, but USE YOUR HEAD.
