I'm trying to swap out the front axle shaft on my 91 AWD DSM and the brake line won't come out of the caliper. We broke it loose, but the line won't come out w/o twisting the rubber line around too. We don't want to move it too much and tear the brake line. Is the part the wrench goes on supposed to swivel freely from the actual brake line, sorta like the coaxial cable that goes into your tv, or do I need to break this line loose from somewhere else? And I figure on the ABS line we can just unbolt it's hanger from the strut tube and move it back out of the way with the hub so we can actually get to the axle shaft. We're sorta stuck on this and would like a fresh idea as to how to attack it when we get to it in a couple of days again.

If you have not got it loose let try holding the metal part of the line while turning the nut back and forth. Probally the line has a little rust on it and its just a little stuck in the nut. Fairly common issue with this type of line, also might want to spray it with a little wd or something.....

Or, since you are just after the axle - leave the caliper on the line and swing all of it out of the way. Tie it back with a piece of wire, and get at the axle.
