time came down to decide how i wanted to get more HP without altering my car permanently (it's a black pearl, so I'd like to restore it to factory condition someday). so I chose the turbo, in a week I'll be driving 100 miles to guy that will let me take whatever i need for $200. I guess I'm concerned about driveability now. I know that if I boost the hell out of it, I'll get crappy gas mileage, but, just how crappy will it be? also, if I DONT boost too often, will I still be able to get around 24mpg on the highway? it's got the 81 na 5speed and 3.90 differential. how about if i megasquirt it? will I see significantly better mileage? any input would be appreciated, before I jump into the mess I know I'm getting into.

umm..

well ****, cylinder heads are heavier than I thought. when i get what i need im planning on just taking the head complete with everything on it, but im wondering how hard the downpipe will be to unbolt. MAN the cylinder walls in my block are nice though for 130,000 miles on em. any sprucing up anyone thinks i should do while it's decapitated?

proxlamus...add more boost and fuel will quickly dissapear I've never figured mine, but I would be willing to bet I get no where near 15mpg at 30psi of boost....lol. I barely make that running around town, but it's not really tuned for fuel mileage. When I get on the highway I just simply get up to cruising speed and lean it out till she stumbles and bring the fuel back in a little bit (using the sds rich/lean knob) . A guy can get mid 30's that way.
