So who goes? Kimi or Juan? How does this affect his motivation for the 06 season? Should be interesting..

From what I've read it is from 2007. So how much support is he going to get from his current team in 2006? Somewhat strange since most of the time the switch is made for the upcoming season, not one full season from now.

I am aware it is for 07. It will be frustrating for him in 06 to not have a fast McLaren car if he's not winning.

That certainly makes him a lame duck, only for a whole season instead of the usual race or two.
I think he will do his job, he's a racer, he wants to win. Renault isn't out there to take second, they want to win too. Funny thing is, he moves to McLaren and they slump? He'll wish he's back on the Renault team. But, I don't look for McLaren to slump. I'll bet one thing, Juan Pablo will finish more races in '06.

Race teams tend to get nervous regarding the sharing of information when they know they are losing a driver, especially towards the end of the season. I just think that will hurt Alonso next year. Nothing against Ferrari, but I was glad to see someone else win the title last year so it should be interesting.

Kimi will go to Ferrari in '07... upon Schumi's departure. Todt has already been priming him (per the F1 periodicals in the last couple months).

There's a good chance there won't even be a Renault Factory team in 07, Renault is not doing well finnaclly, and they have done what they wanted to do in win both titles. Most of the top designers have left renault, why because the 06 car has been designed and if there is no 07 car, they should leave.
I can't find the link where i got this info however.

This sort of confirms that Kimi will go off to Ferrari. IMO (which is shared with many F1 fans) Kimi is the best driver right now.
Renault has the GP2 star Kovalainen. Even if Alonso departs, they still have up and coming potential. Briatore has a keen eye to spot talented rookies.
Ferrari is falling apart. Jean Todt and Ross Braun are both rumoured to retire in the coming few years. The only thing Ferrari offers is brand name prestige. All F1 drivers want to drive for Ferrari. Last year, they underestimated the progress of their rivals. This year, they are going crazy without even taking a break.
Who knows? All this talk is making me eager for the new season!

I'm not a big Ferrari fan, that's no secret....BUT there is no team I like to watch claw their way back to the top better than Ferrari. Those guys are pretty amazing. They will recover, and when they do, hold on to your hat!
To me, they are sort of like the "WJ" of F1, but fast race cars cannot go unrecognized, no matter if you are not a big fan of the team. WJ and Ferrari are always at the top somewhere.
