Still dont know if I like those cars, they look great from some *angles but from others they look like crap. The v8 model would be fun but for the price you could almost have a corvette.

You can even get one with the LS2 supercharged. Starting to climb into the rediculous territory now..
I'm honestly not sure if i'd feel safe going much over 130 or 140 in a pontiac, regardless if I was on a track.

i like the soltice a lot. it is quite capable of handling a lot of power, but its true, its coming near the price range of a base model vette when u put a nice 8 in it. who wouldn't want a vette over a soltice? 06 vette's are incredibly awesome.
i like barracudas.
i own a firebird.
i want a z.
A:

What the hell is Saturn doing building a roadster anyways? Leave that to the Jap cars and the Cobra.
A:

actually, i really like the wheels on that sky.

What platform did they build the Sky on. Is it just Suturns version of the Solstice? I've never seen it until now.

How can the Sky be a lame copy of a Lotus? It's nearly the same car! It's designed by the same guy, uses the same chassis, and I think the Ecotec is the same engine. The main differences are body work and the location of the engine.

The Solstice and the Sky are basically the same car, just a different body. Both Pontiac and Saturn are GMC.

The Solstice and Sky (front-engine) are NOT by any stretch of the imagination built on a Lotus Elise mid-engine, bonded aluminum platform.
They do share a platform with the latest Opel Speedster, a car which *USED* to be a mid-engined and shared its platform with the Elise. No more.
Neither Pontiac nor Saturn are "GMC", which only sells trucks.
A:

phxZ31: Pontiac and Saturn are owned by GM, not GMC. GMC is also a division of GM

For 18k that V8 swap is a nice deal. It's no more than the Solstice with the 4 banger. I may look into getting one. I'm sure the 100 cars are gone for this year though. My wife wants one, and with a V8 I would not be ashamed to drive it around as well. Where I live (lots of lakes and twisty roads) it would be a blast to drive. Hmmm, xmas present to myself....

Isn't it 18k with supplying the car? So car price + 18k?
'77 280Z: E88, Triple SK's, cam, header, and a WAY too big exhaust.

A:

yeah, it's the car + the 18k, which is quite ridiculous if you ask me

To each his own I guess. If I had the cash to do it I might. I like things that are different. Anyone can get a Corvette with 40k, but only 100 people will have this car...

I'd like a breakdown on the part's costs. I bet you could take them all to a normal, competent mechanic and have it done for closer to 10k.

I think this may be more than the sum of its parts. Mallett brings a lot of engineering and fabrication abilities to any project.
Perhaps you COULD put it together yourself for less than $18k in parts, labor, fabrication, time, rework, refab, refit, etc, etc.
