electrical connectors — where to get them?

General Chat

Q:

Have tried archives and google for this one and, like Mick, I can't get no satisfaction.
I would like to find a source for the various weird electrical connectors that you find in all cars. I am NOT talking about injector connectors, so don't start pulling the thread that way. I know all the bazillion places you can get those.
Specifically, I'm talking about a connector in my '93 Mazda 2600 (which is why I'm asking here and not on the Z tech forum). It's a four-wire male connector that plugs into the distributor and the thing has just crystallized and fallen apart. Mazda does not sell just the plug, and they want $880 for the whole wiring harness it's attached to. Hahahaha. I have run into this same prob many times in other cars. (The most famous case being our old S-15 Jimmy in which just about all the connectors fell apart and were not available.) Yes, I suppose I can walk the junkyards and hope. I'm just wondering if there isn't some company with some catalog where you can buy this stuff nice and shiny and new.
FWIW, there are a number of connectors on Z cars that I would like to splice and solder in new, too, such as the 7-prong AFM plug.
I've located some kind of group of companies in China that have some connectors, but there are no prices and, well, they're in China.

They used to supply a "wiring kit" that included a lot of the funnky little push=in connectors and bullet connectors used in Japanese Autos.
Probably discontinued as it's better to buy a harness Assembly and shotgun it than spend skilled technician's time troubleshooting and repairing it.
Also check Digikey.com---they got everything there!

Thanks, Tony. That looks like just the place I need — now I just have to learn the language to know what they're talking about! LOL. Ordered the catalog, anyway. Hope it has lots of pictures.

You may find some luck with "Auveco". Do a google search on it, and select the the distributor with the (>16Mb) catalog online.
Mostly has the domestic big three as far as electrical connections. Do you have a pic of it?
Eagle Day does list & show replacement terminals if you found one in the JY.

Auveco and Eagle Day look EXCELLENT for what I'm looking for. Summit, too. I thought all they sold was SBC stuff and nitrous kits.
Thanks a bunch. You guys are all gentlemen and scholars and it's a shame there are so few of us left.
