Q:

Hi folks,
There is a 78 280Z with less than 4,000 miles. Goodness would I love to have that car. I'd be interested to see what he finally gets for it.

yea. after inflation and storage he'll probably loose half of what he bought it new for (and will have had zero enjoyment from the car while loosing value/money all those years).
it's sad.
A:

Wow, I have never seen a nicer 280
being born in 88, i havent seen a 280 straight from the dealer, but MAN, that is a nice looking car.
Thats really making me consider taking off all the spoilers and stuff off my car....

Nice car. I have some NOS Genuine Datsun rocker moldings like those on the 280Z but mine are for 280ZX models.
I predict that car will go for 22K...............anyone else wanna make a prediction??
EDIT:
HHMMMMM,anyone know why there is RED PAINT showing on the underside of the hood at the front of the car???

Hum pretty close to me like a 20 min drive. 20,000 plus is a good guess that 77 with 7000 miles went for around 20 on ebay a few days back.

Norm,
Nice catch on the red spot under the hood. Any chance that might have been undercoating in the 70's? I still would love to have this car in my garage.

Hey I mailed the guy about the paint and this was his response.
"That is the rust proofing material which is somewhat translucent. It was sprayed into all rust prone areas of the car, inside the
doors, rocker panels etc. "

Wow, I have a set of those rocker moldings that came on my 78 (removed and stored). The big problem, is that I am missing the door section off of one side, so if any of you want to buy them, shoot me an e-mail, and an offer

Makes you wonder how many more are out there in that type of condition?
A few years ago a friend of mine was working for a congressman from Alaska and just happened to have a conversation one day about weekend plans. My friend mentioned that he would be working on his 240Z and then that led to a conversation about the congressmans 1973 Datsun 240Z with less than 9,000 original miles on it. He bought it new in '73 and drove it for a year and then parked it. It sat until 1990 when it was moved from under the U.S. House of Representatives to a storage container in No. Va. It sat in that sea-land container until early 2003! It was in pretty good shape for having sat that long but the new owner in order to make it roadworthy had alot of work carried out before he drove it home to Illinois.

Nice, and tkr thinks its been wasted? Rigght.
I know were there is a 100% stock 72 240, orange, mint condition all original not a restoration. It has less than 10K miles on it and has been stored in a climate controlled garage with a few other nice cars.
What did 240's cost new like $3000? Well after years of storage and inflation this man has written offers for this car the last guy offered $34K and he didn't get the car. I just wonder what it will be worth in another 10 years.
