My older brothers first car was a 1956 dodge royal. it was blue and white with the gold(if i remember right) knight imblem on the back of each fender. i was 12yrs old and used to wash it for him all the time i loved that car . he totaled when i was 15.
could you post a picture of your Dorothy for me , i like to see her.

I would love to but my computer skills are zilch. When Jeanne can find her digital camera and #1 son would help, we'll get all the cars on here so people know they're real.
In the mean time; look on ebay or a Dodge site - we have and they are common - a 1956 advertisement showing the Dodge Royal with White Top, Dark "Royal" Blue over a lighter "Wedgewood" (kind of blue grey) Blue on the lower boddy.
Your memory is correct about the Gold Knight Head symbols.
These cars don't command a high price but they are rare compared to Chevy and there's probabaly more fords out there too.
Jeanne's runs great but new brakes are a must - she has an early hemi-style engine (doesen't mean squat compare to a lot of engines but it's the current "oh wow" phrase today) that moves faster than you can believe for a stock unaltered car & engine - but going fast is one thing; stopping when you want and need to means a lot more.
Thanks for the interest. If you want one - they seem to be for sale at very reasonable prices.
By the way, they are great drivers and the "Forward Look" design with all the glass makes for great visibility on the road. That means alot on modern hiways. Just remember this are not road rally cars , they heel over on tight turns like all American cars of the age.
Also keep a lot of chrome polish on hand.
