If you want the photos in full size, I will e-mail them to you so you don't have to poach them from my cardomain site.
Did I ever send you the photos of the roll cages and Z32 /GT-R subframe shots from the convention last year?
If not, I can send them all...
What lube did you use for the fasteners when you installed them?

I dont know where I got those pics from Car Domain to be honest. I have the original pictures on my pc I just have to find them.
I like the pictures of the roll cage from the Nissan national convention, do you still have the pictures from Tetsu's car? I really liked the setup and how well it looked in the car and how they did not interfear with getting into and out of the car. Now I would be willing to install that cage, but yea lets see what you have Tony.
Got to go and get some gas and fill the tires up with air.

Hey Jeff, Just a couple Questions
Do you know the mass off hand of the Pistons, BARE, and/or with Pins?
Its 88mm Bore right?
Have the Specs on the mass of the rods?
Lots of Z cars, 1970's-1983's.

I think I'm gonna copy your adjustable cam gear and oil pickup. I have the Arizona adjustable cam sprocket but yours looks a hell of a lot more stout. The oil pickup looks like you have more pickup in the oil then the stock unit.
Who made your rods? I have a set of stockers race prepped for the next build but I would ditch those in a heartbeat for a set of aftermarket lighter/stronger rods.
All and all the project is looking good.

Sorrrrry LOL, man it just has been to long since I have been able to do anything, except wait till the cows come home.

Hi Brian, I dont have the info on the pistons, but I do have the sales order number from JE andthey have all of the specifications for the pistons. You could also call Dave Robello, I do believe he started using my piston design in some of his engines.
The rods, well I dont have the weight, Again Dave may have that info. I ordered them from Crower and had them sent to Dave for the build.
You are correct, the bore is 88mm.

Peter, Crower made the rods custom for my application, they were a good price and I am very happy with the product. they have not missed a beat in any stretch of the imagination. The only other Rod I could have gotten were the Corrello rods, but the difference in cost was about twice the cost of the crower component.
You do the cam gear and you will be very happy with the ease of adjustment. I took a look at tthe AZ gear and it did not give me the adjustment resolution I wanted for an adjustable cam gear. HKS made that part and it was 209.00 out the door. The design is simple and you can punch it out easily with a good layth and a mill to cut the adjuster slots.
The oil pan is the 240 race pan sold from Nismo. The pan is made locally here in Huntington beach Ca. Nismo last time I checked wanted 750.00 for the pan and the pickup. That setup also is very well made and works excellent, just a bit pricy. At the time I had no way of welding it together, and still dont really. I have only a mig welder, a TIG unit would be ideal to make the pan. The pickup sits right in the middle of a trap door box. I was having some serious oil pressure problems with the stock turbo pan under hard strait line accelleration to the point I had to do something about it. When an engine oil pressure gauge loses pressure to the tune of 10-15 psi under heavy loads, NOT GOOD AT ALL!
Thanks for the complement Peter, this has like I said been a long build and it is just about over. I do still have some goodies to install on the car, like the diff cooler and pump, thanks to Frank and Tony. The new DEFI tach, new seat belts in black, and I cant remember the rest but it should keep me busy for a while. Then there is the roll cage that I still have not talked myself into yet, but hey if I get kicked off a track that will change my mind I think.
anyway, let me know if I can help you out with some of the parts and I will see what I can do to get you a part to use as a template.

Simple Buy Steve Mitchells'. I believe he's selling for under $10K.
Baddest Z31 on the face of the planet.
Sure will be cheaper than building anything close to it buying parts new!

Thanks Jeff
I should be able to "wing it" on the copying the cam gear just from the pics and measurements of my stock unit here. I have about a bazillion cam gears floating around the garage. I don't have a mill but I'm more then sure I can figure a way to slot the center on my lathe. I do have a rotory/indexing table. ;)

A:
Adapt a tool holder by using a big band style item to allow putting a Dremel Tool in the toolpost.
Then you can do rotary slotting while the thing is in the chuck.
With a tape on the chuck annotating degrees, you can use a smaller dremel bit to actually index it per degree, too!

You wanna hear something funny?
I have never been to a school for metal work or worked in a metal shop. I'm learning as I go along. No manuals, no books, and no teachers. The internet is a wonderful tool for learning..
Working with metal is fun. It's awsome to create things that people like/want.

I was in Metal Shop in High School, but we didn't have Bridgeports, nuthin. Maybe a Clausing Lathe, a drill press, and a spot welder for making out little galvanized boxes....
We did have a blast furnace and could cast aluminum, though---which was cool!
What kind of a diseased individual buys a Bridgeport when he's never really used it much in the past? I know I did because I know you can make some COOOOL stuff with it, and I don't want to pay someone to screw it up for me anyway!

My uncle GAVE me a Bridgeport with NO tooling or instructions. He was given 3 of them buy a place that needed room in their warehouse. My uncle is pals with the guy who runs the warehouse. He kept one (Still not tooled or in use but runs), he gave one to his uncle (My great uncle who can run a lathe in his sleep) and then he gave one to me. It's not small and the evening I took delivery of it I fell off the back of the truck and broke my left foot.
When my uncle was delivering the other one to my great uncle. My great uncle said "Oh thanks Joe, I used to have one of those little ones some years back. I loved it." Seems he lent it to a friend of his cause he needed shop space for a MUCH LARGER lathe and never got it back. I think my great uncle was useing his the very same week it was delivered. I sat on mine for a while.
You are 100% right about making your own parts. I have screwed up a few parts, a few tools and almost a few fingers. I don't think the foot counts cause that was before the lathe was in operation here at my place.

No kidding!
I paid $1250 for mine. When 1FastZ saw it, he said "Wow, those usually sell for $3400 at the auctions, and you got a shaper head on the back!"
I gotta figure out what that "shaper head" does. We had a shaper in the shop class at school, but I only saw it used once---it turned round stock into square stock... I'm missing something on it's finer points, I'm sure! LOL

I need to figure out how to safely remove the backing plate from the shaft. I think I need a spanner wrench to secure the shaft then breaking the plate/chuck loose. I want to get an independent 4 jaw chuck. This way I can machine odd objects such as turning round stock to square.
Right now I'm looking for a few parts to make a milling attachment. I've seen many pictures of them for different lathes and I'm 99.9% sure I can make one with what I have here at my shop. It shure would be nice to have a mill to work with. After I have the lathe all tooled up and I'm well skilled on it, I will be looking for an old mill and more space to work in.
More space WILL be needed......
hahahahahaa
